The performance is led by Miami University specialist Thomas Garcia, who is joined by local Oxford musicians Doug Hamilton and Noah Cope. The free concert is part of the festivities of the Latin American and Caribbean UniDiversity Festival and National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month Celebration and is sponsored by multiple organizations within our community. All classes are invited but to reserve your spot, Teachers, kindly contact Ms. Hofmann in Room 117 to reserve your classes’ spot for this event! Thank you for those who have already done so.

Best Buddies will have its first meeting of the year after school on Thursday. Best Buddies is an international organization that aims to bring together students with and without disabilities in a friendly environment. Some of our events in the past have included field trips to the Reds Stadium, the Powder Puff football game, and an inclusive dance in the spring. Join us on Thursday, in room 316. We will have snacks!

Do you love efficient human transportation? Do you love the feeling of the wind on your face as you zoom down a giant hill? Then you should join Talawanda’s Cycling Club! We’ll be going on group rides around Oxford, learning some proper bike safety for road rides, and doing many fun cycling based activities, possibly even learning to unicycle! It’s a great way to stay active while seeing Oxford in  a entirely new, exciting way. Come stop by Mrs. Schrans’s room 216 after school today.

The girls field hockey teams fell to St. Ursula yesterday JV 7-0 and varsity 9-0. Their next game is today at home versus Summit Country Day.

The girls tennis team defeated Edgewood 3-2 they improve to 8-7 on the year. Their next game is today at Mercy McAuley.

The girls soccer team defeated Edgewood yesterday by a score of 1-0 Sophie Pohlabel had the goal for Talawanda they improve to 3-2-2 on the year and their next game is tomorrow at home versus Northwest.

The volleyball team fell in three sets to Edgewood and their record is now 2-7 on the year their next match is tomorrow at Northwest.

The cross country team traveled to the Valley View Invitational yesterday and brought home two more trophies.  The girls dominated the field with six girls in the top 9.  Zoe Moore was 2nd, Kylee Carver 3rd, Hannah Farnsworth 5th, Asya Walsh 6th, Brooke Hubbard 8th, and Mary Kate Huddleston 9th.  Congratulations also go out to Bella Walter and Hannah Hoblitzell for breaking new time barriers to set new personal records in the scorching heat.  The boys took home the runner-up trophy.  Eliot Berberich led the boys with a 7th place finish and Jonathan Hall was 9th.  Also setting new personal records were Greg Urayama, Jesse Faler, Isaac Bonhan, and Robert Schonlau.  The team will be back in action on Saturday at Eaton.

The varsity boy’s golf team defeated Little Miami 163-201 to remain unbeaten in the SWOC and improve their season record to 11-1.  Austin Goerss’ round of 38 earned him medalist honors for the match.  The Brave return to action on Thursday to take on Ross in the regular season SWOC final.

In other action, the JV boy’s golf team posted their second victory in two nights as they beat Little Miami 178-248. On Monday, the JV golfers bested Monroe 175-211.  Owen Sweitzer and Parker Geshan shared medalist honors on Monday with rounds of 40 each.  Owen was medalist in Tuesday night’s match with a score of 41.  The team is now 9-0 on the season.

The boys soccer team fell to Edgewood yesterday by a score of 2-1 Logan Kent scored his first career goal for Talawanda they are back in action Thursday at Northwest.

Home games for today: Boys and girls golf host Northwest at 4, JV Tennis hosts Mercy McAuley at 4, and finally field hockey hosts Summit Country Day, JV at 5, varsity at 6:30.

The girls golf team defeated Hamilton 185-232 they improve to 11-3 on the year. Their next match is tomorrow at home versus Northwest.

The girls volleyball team fell in three sets to Fairfield their overall record falls to 2-6.

On a WILD Friday night at the stadium the football team defeated Badin in a historic win for the Brave Terrell Wills, Deondre Bothast-Revalee, and Adam Crank had a touchdown each.

And now, Patty G has a message for the Talawanda Student Body and the football team.

Thanks, Patty. The football team improves to 2-0 on the year and play this Friday at Eaton.

On Saturday the girls Soccer team fell to East Central 1-0 their record falls to 2-2-2 on the year their next game is tomorrow at Edgewood.

And on Saturday afternoon Talawanda Alum Maurice Thomas surpassed the 2,816 yard mark for the Miami RedHawks in their 48-17 win over Tennessee Tech so he has now collected enough yards in his career to run straight from Yager Stadium to the high school he attended, the old Talawanda High School.

LLast night the Varsity Girls tennis defeated Northwest by a score of 4-1 they improve to 3-1 in the conference their next game is Monday at Hamilton. JV girls tennis defeated Northwest yesterday 3-2. Winners for Talawanda were: Mikaela Gorenflo, Taona Banda, Emma Morrish, and Sarah Kennel. Ne1xt home match will be Monday against Harrison and Northwest. 

Last night the boy’s varsity golf team defeated Edgewood for the second straight night to remain unbeaten in the SWOC and improve their season record to 10-1.  Austin Goerss’ score of 41 earned him medalist honors in the victory which saw the Brave outscore Edgewood 172-214.

In JV boy’s golf, Tyler Hazelwood’s career best 39, led the Brave to a 178-224 victory over the Ross Rams.  The victory improved the teams record to 7-0 on the year.

The girls golf team defeated Ross yesterday by a 214-235 score they improve to 9-3 on the year and their next match is Monday versus Oak Hills and Harrison.

Last night the Boys Soccer team picked up their first win of the year crushing Mount Healthy 14-0. Ethan Kraushar had a hat trick and Zeek Nates had a goal and three assists their next game is Tuesday at home versus Edgewood.

Last night the girls volleyball team took care of Mount Healthy in three sets they improve to 2-5 on the year and they play tomorrow at Graham.

Home games for today: The football team hosts Badin that game is an American out tailgate in the parking lot begins at 5 and the game begins at 7 so let’s pack the stadium for the football team tonight.

The girls tennis team defeated Ross yesterday by a score of 4-1 they improve to 5-6 on the year and 2-1 in the SWOC.

The girls volleyball team fell to Harrison in three sets yesterday they fall to 1-5 on the year.

The boy’s varsity golf team remained undefeated in SWOC play with a 161-162 victory over Harrison last night.  Matt Bowling, Charlie Faler, and Dylan Slager all shot 40, and Austin Goerss added a 41 to score for the Brave.  The varsity team improved their overall record to 8-1 on the season and are back in action tonight as they travel to Edgewood to take on the Cougars.

In other action the JV boy’s golf team defeated Harrison with a score of 181-190.  Owen Sweitzer earned medalist honors with a round of 40.

Last year, Talawanda Wrestling had its first Division 1 state placing wrestler, Sean Mondello. Interested in pursuing glory, victory, and immortality this upcoming winter? The girls soccer team battled to a draw once again last night it was a 4-4 final. They now have two ties in SWOC play and their next game is this Saturday at East Central.

The boys soccer team tied Harrison yesterday 1-1 goal in the game for Ethan Kraushar they are now 0-1-1 in SWOC play their next game is Thursday versus Mount Healthy.

The boys golf team remained umbeaten in the SWOC and improved their overall record to 7-1 with a 168-254 victory over Northwest.  Austin Goerss shot an even par 36 to medal for the Brave.  The team returns to SWOC action this afternoon as they travel to Circling Hills to take on Harrison.

The girls cross country team continued their great season with another fine performance at the Miamisburg Invitational on Saturday.  The girls took home the first place trophy with a convincing win over 12 other teams.  Hannah Lippincott set a new personal best to finish in 2nd place out of 113 runners.  Maddy Iden was 5th, Libby Farmer 6th (new personal best), Eva Motta 9th (new personal best), Lilly Iden 22nd, Abby Bahlau 28th (new personal best), and Zoe Moore 29th.  The boys race was stopped 2 miles into the race for thunder and the meet was then cancelled.  The cross country team does not race this week, but will be back in action next Tuesday and Saturday. 

The girls tennis team defeated (someone) by a score of 4-1 on Thursday their record improves to 1-1 in the SWOC.

The girls golf team fell to Harrison on Thursday by a score of 190-215 they fall to 7-3 on the year.

The girls soccer team battle to a draw on Thursday at Little Miami. They are now 2-1-1 overall and they play today at Harrison.

The boys soccer team fell to Little Miami by a score of 4-1 on Thursday night they fall to 0-3 on the year.

The volleyball team fell to Little Miami on Thursday in 3 sets their record falls to 1-4.

The football team defeated Preble Shawnee by a 41-7 score. Senior Terrell Wills and sophomore Deondre Bothast-Revalee each had 2 touchdowns the Brave win their season opener to improve to 1-0 and they play next this Friday at home versus rival Badin.

Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Wednesday, August 28th, 2019

Anyone interested in playing baseball for Talawanda in the spring needs to report to room 413 for a meeting about fall workouts on Tuesday, September 3rd @ 2:30 PM.

NHS seniors: We will meet in Ms. Alfonsi’s room today right after school.  Please check your email for information regarding officer elections.

Attention all students interested in participating in Model UN this year, there is an informational meeting about this year’s program today after school in Mr McGhehey’s room, room 411, from 2:30 to 3:15.  Informational sheets and sign-ups for countries are located outside room 411 and are first-come-first-serve.  For additional information contact Mr McGhehey, Benjamin Farmer or Rian DelVecchio.

This year,  The World Language Club (Voila) is partnering with The American Red Cross.  If you are interested in learning more, plan to attend the Informational Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 10 – immediately after school in Room 118.

The boy’s varsity golf team defeated the Eaton Eagles 163 – 221 yesterday afternoon in a non-conference match to improve their season record to 6 – 1. Dylan Slager earned medalist honors with a round of 38.  The team will be back in action tonight as they host Northwest in SWOC competition.

Yesterday afternoon the girls golf team also defeated Eaton at the country club by a score of 222-250. Their record improves to 7-2 they play tonight at Harrison.

Home games for this long weekend: Boys Golf hosts Northwest today at 4, Boys soccer hosts Little Miami tonight, JV at 5, Varsity at 7, Field hockey hosts Fairmont on Saturday morning, and tomorrow night the Football Team will open their regular season with a home game versus Preble Shawnee, that game begins at 7 and it is a black out, so make sure to support your Talawanda sports teams on this 4-day weekend.

As you all know by now, the class elections are over.  In order to remain neutral, we here at Brave Daily News denied several campaign ads that were sent to us.  Trenton Young, your new Senior class president, has issued a presidential decree that his video MUST be shown today.  Here it is, enjoy….

The Talawanda boys golf team defeated Ross last night 165 to 173.  The Brave remain undefeated in SWOC play with a 4-0 record and improved their overall record to 5 -1.  Medalist for the Brave was Charlie Faler who posted a one under par 35 at the Hueston Woods course.

In other action the JV Brave golf team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 191 – 235 victory over the Ross Rams.  Medalist for the Brave was Owen Sweitzer with a round of 44.

The varsity boys are back in action tonight against Eaton at Hueston Woods.

Last night the girls Tennis Team fell to Harrison in a close 3-2 match. They fall to 3-6 on the season and they play next tomorrow versus Little Miami.

The girls soccer team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Colerain by a 3-2 score they fall to 2-1 on the year. Their next game is tomorrow at Little Miami.

The boys soccer team also fell to Colerain last night by a 3-1 score they fall to 0-2 on the season, their next game is tomorrow versus Little Miami.

And finally the girls volleyball teams all defeated Hamilton, the varsity squad doing so in 4 sets, they improve to 1-3 on the year and their next match is tomorrow against Little Miami.

Home games for today: Boys and Girls Golf both host Eaton at 4.

Last night the Girls Tennis team fell to Oak Hills their record falls to 2-5 on the season they begin conference play today at Harrison action begins there at 4:15.

The girls golf match was rained out last night no word on if there will be a rain date yet, they play next tomorrow versus Eaton.
