Friday, September 13th in the PAC during 6th Period- there will be a free concert featuring popular music from Brazil, Cuba, Argentina and Puerto Rico, including selections by the country’s most important composers as part of the uniDiversity Festival. The performance is led by Miami University specialist Thomas Garcia, who is joined by local Oxford musicians Doug Hamilton and Noah Cope. The free concert is part of the festivities of the Latin American and Caribbean UniDiversity Festival and National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month Celebration and is sponsored by multiple organizations within our community. All classes are invited but to reserve your spot, Teachers, kindly contact Ms. Hofmann in Room 117 to reserve your classes’ spot for this event! Thank you for those who have already done so.

The Marshall Girls on the Run team is looking for high school mentors.  You must be able to commit to one day a week Sept 9 through Nov. 15.  Practices are Mondays and Thursdays 3:45 to 5:15 at Marshall.  If you are interested, please contact Mrs.Lykins at lykinse@talawanda.org.

Do you want to do service and have fun doing it?  If so, Key Club is for you.  Key Club is an organization devoted to doing various community service activities and projects throughout the year, and is a great way to help others in our community, as well as to record service hours for NHS or even college applications.  An informational meeting will be held after school on Monday, September 9.  Come for food and a good time!

This year,  The World Language Club (Voila) is partnering with The American Red Cross.  If you are interested in learning more, plan to attend the Informational Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 10 – immediately after school in Room 118.

Attention Seniors – there will be a College Essay Workshop after school on September 9th from 2:30 – 4:00 PM. This is an opportunity to have your college essay reviewed by an admissions counselor or discuss ideas for essays that you still need to complete. This 1 on 1 help is offered completely free of charge! Our past graduates who attended found this to be a valuable experience and we trust you will as well. Come with your chromebooks and any/all essays that you need to complete as part of the college admissions process. 

Environmental and Natural Sciences club will have a meeting Monday after school.

The first chess club meeting of the year will take place in Mr. Yuva’s room after school today until 3:30.  Everyone is welcome.

Next week is Suicide Awareness week.  Hope Squad has events planned to bring the message that you matter and that you are loved.  Stay tuned to learn about the fun events that are planned. Make sure to wear yellow on Thursday as well.

LLast night the Varsity Girls tennis defeated Northwest by a score of 4-1 they improve to 3-1 in the conference their next game is Monday at Hamilton. JV girls tennis defeated Northwest yesterday 3-2. Winners for Talawanda were: Mikaela Gorenflo, Taona Banda, Emma Morrish, and Sarah Kennel. Ne1xt home match will be Monday against Harrison and Northwest. 

Last night the boy’s varsity golf team defeated Edgewood for the second straight night to remain unbeaten in the SWOC and improve their season record to 10-1.  Austin Goerss’ score of 41 earned him medalist honors in the victory which saw the Brave outscore Edgewood 172-214.

In JV boy’s golf, Tyler Hazelwood’s career best 39, led the Brave to a 178-224 victory over the Ross Rams.  The victory improved the teams record to 7-0 on the year.

The girls golf team defeated Ross yesterday by a 214-235 score they improve to 9-3 on the year and their next match is Monday versus Oak Hills and Harrison.

Last night the Boys Soccer team picked up their first win of the year crushing Mount Healthy 14-0. Ethan Kraushar had a hat trick and Zeek Nates had a goal and three assists their next game is Tuesday at home versus Edgewood.

Last night the girls volleyball team took care of Mount Healthy in three sets they improve to 2-5 on the year and they play tomorrow at Graham.

Home games for today: The football team hosts Badin that game is an American out tailgate in the parking lot begins at 5 and the game begins at 7 so let’s pack the stadium for the football team tonight.
