EVAN: First robotics club will be meeting from 3:00-4:00 pm in Room 412
GIULIANO: Next Mock trial will be meeting from 4:30-7:30pm in, Room 315
GIULIANO: but there is no tribune this week
EVAN: As for club events Mock trial including me will be at regionals all day tomorrow.
GIULIANO: Good luck Mock trial and famous yale graduate Daniel messner.
EVAN: Also the new Chess club has been having a big turn out with 10 new members. It’s more than 2!
GIULIANO: If you are interested in some friendly chess competition, please join them! They meet every Wednesday in room 603 until 3:45.
EVAN: Now for some more information about FCCLA
GIULIANO: Thursday is “FCCLA Spirit Day” and they appreciate everyone that wore their red and white today
EVAN: Today in class FCCLA students are having a speaker about distracted driving, one of our national programs Families Acting on Community Traffic Safety (FACTS)
GIULIANO: Next week they will be sponsoring a school wide contest for the best PSA or Poster to help promote the dangers of distracted driving and there will be prizes!
EVAN: Setting stone coffee house tickets are now going on sale for 3 dollars in advance and 5 dollars at the door.
GIULIANO Sounds like a steal of a deal to me
EVAN: Another fun thing that is happening around our school is class officers organizing Friday Fun Fit days!
GIULIANO: On Friday Feb 23 our theme will be Mardi Gras (gold, green, purple). Follow the weekly theme and you just might win random prizes simply for dressing the part and being seen by teachers!
EVAN: Next week is FFA Week. To celebrate, FFA is putting on themed days each day next week.
GIULIANO: That’s right. It all starts on Tuesday when we get back from the long weekend with Holiday Tuesday.
EVAN: Indeed. Wear your best holiday sweater…or maybe a Halloween-themed shirt? It’s Holiday Tuesday, so celebrate FFA by celebrating your favorite holiday.

TESSA: First up sports announcements, Talawanda baseball tryouts are being held in the THS Gym on February 19th to February 21st. 9th and 10th graders will be from 6-7:30pm and 11th and 12th graders will be from 7:30pm to 9pm.
KATE: Along with the tryouts, there will be an informational meeting during tutorial this thursday
TESSA: Next Track and Field season is just around the corner! Tomorrow, Wednesday the 14th, there will be an informational meeting being held in the cafeteria after school.
KATE: Attention Seniors! The Talawanda High School Local Scholarship and the Oxford Community Foundation Scholarship are now available and are located in the guidance office.
TESSA: The deadline for the Talawanda High School Local Scholarship is February 23rd by 3pm
KATE: And the Oxford Community Foundation Scholarship is due February 22 by 3pm.
TESSA: Now let’s talk clubs!
KATE: Project Green will be meeting in room 224 after school.
TESSA: Another meeting happening after school is Art Club in room 603
KATE: And finally Mock Trial is meeting in room 315 at 4:30
TESSA: As for club activity, Diversity Club will be delivering flowers  tomorrow for Valentine’s Day.  ALL Diversity Club members will need to report to room 400 to help deliver.  Because of this, there will not be a meeting after school on Wednesday
KATE: Now for some updates about FCCLA.
TESSA: Tuesday is “FCCLA Day of Service ” Serving your community with leadership skills and a stellar attitude is the foundation of FCCLA. The Butler Tech and THS Chapters offer over 5,000 hours of service opportunities a year to members.
KATE: They plan such events as Veterans Day, Trunk or Treat, 3 events at Senior Center, 2 blood drives,and more!  Students will be having a speaker from the Oxford Senior Center about the importance of volunteering.
TESSA: As for their spirit week Today’s theme was college apparel and tomorrow’s spirit day theme is Pink, so make sure you wear your pink clothing.
KATE: Next up we sent Will to get information about the upcoming Junior ACT. Here is his video of Mr. Cole with more information on that:

ADDI: We have lots of exciting news to cover from this past weekend so lets get right into that.

Wrestling was in action this weekend at Goshen High School. Individual match wins came from Colton Smith, Fisher Guenther, Will Tanner, and Kyler Brown. This week, the Wrestling team is preparing for the SWOC tournament, which will be held this Friday night at Harrison High School.

Also this past weekend the swim teams competed in the sectional swim meets, the first stop on their journey to state. Of the 54 individual swims this weekend 40 of them were career bests. The teams also qualified 14 individuals to the district meet this weekend, where spots in the state championships will be on the line. Congratulations to the following individuals for qualifying to the district meet:  Anna Gregg, Abbie Curry, Morgan Sly, Kaylyn Macechko, Caroline Mignery, Scarlett HIllman, Lindsay Offenburger, Ryan Warholak, Stephen Mullally, Adam Hunt, Jonah Femiani, Patrick Mullally, John Larson, and Evan Zhou. The district meet will be on Saturday at the Miami Rec Center.

Boys basketball took on Reading on Saturday although ending in a loss, our very own Cale Lietch set a new record for most 3 pointers in a season as he dropped his 60th 3 of the year

ADDI: Last night the wrestling team competed in a tri-meet with Badin and Hamilton at Hamilton High School. While the team struggled some with Badin, by the time they faced Hamilton, they were warmed up and ready to go, defeating Hamilton 51 to 28. Notable wins came from Colton Back, Thomas Harper, Will Tanner, Henry Longcamp, and Ashton Shea. Nice work, guys.

Lots to talk about for this weekend so let’s get into it.

Tonight boys swimming will be participating in sectionals at St. X high school

 

And we have lots going on tomorrow starting with wrestling who will be attending a tri-meet at Goshen with Goshen and Kings.

Also tomorrow Boys Basketball will be making their way over to Reading High school that game is to begin at 730

And Finally girls basketball will also be on the road, heading to Goshen High school at 630

ADDI: The varsity Academic Challenge Team swept Mt. Healthy last night  by scores of 68-29 and 68-23.  With those victories they clinched the SWOC title with a record of 10-0.  The JV won an exciting match 54-48.  The team improved to 5-0 on the year.  The next match is February 21st where we will celebrate our lone senior Lydia Bartel

The girls sectional diving meet was held last night at West Clermont High School.  Congratulations to Eliza Sullivan for placing 7th in the Cincinnati Sectional.  The sectional swim meets will be this weekend, with the boys swimming tomorrow night and the girls swimming Saturday morning.  Both meets will be at St. Xavier High School.  Good luck to all of the swimmers competing this weekend!

Wrestling will be in action at Hamilton High School tonight in a tri-meet with Hamilton and Badin. Wrestling begins at 5:30.

MARLEY: First up, there are a few meetings happening today, starting with Project Green.
GRACIE: That’s right. Project Green will meet today, after school, from 3 to 4 in room 224.
MARLEY: Setting Stone will meet today, after school, as well This is an important meeting where members will discuss and plan the upcoming Coffee House. Please plan on attending.
GRACIE: Additionally, anyone who signed up to perform at the February 23rd Coffee House must attend a planning meeting on Tuesday, February 13th. That’s next Tuesday. This meeting will be in Mr. Aerni’s room, room 320, and will take no more than 15 minutes.
MARLEY: Art Club will also meet today after school in Mrs. Claire’s room, room 603.

MARLEY: Also meeting after school tomorrow, art club will meet, in room 603.
GRACIE: Additionally, setting stone will be meeting tomorrow in room 320 right after school. This will be a very important meeting covering the upcoming Coffee House. Please plan on attending.
MARLEY: Tomorrow night  mock trial will meet from 4:30-7:30 in room 315
MARLEY: Also, Bible Study will be moving their meeting to this friday in tutorial in Mr. Bursitis room.
GRACIE: Over the weekend, The Robotics Club, Talawanda Tubers, competed at Millett Hall. They won 3 of their 5 matches and placed 14th out of 27 teams! The Robotics Club will continue to meet throughout the rest of the school year to be even more ready for next year’s season.  Congratulations Tubers!

SIENNA: Up first is some news about Key Club–they will be having a bake sale at the February 6th basketball game., starting at 4:30.
ALEXA: The bake sale will start when the freshman basketball game starts, and will end when the varsity game is over. Stop by their table and pick up something to eat.
SIENNA: Another charitable group here at THS, Voila, is collecting single wrapped snacks to help replenish the food stations located in various rooms around the building. This will help meet a need for our school community!
ALEXA: That’s right. Voila will collect items for the entire months of February and March
SIENNA: If you’re able to donate, items can be dropped in a collection basket outside of Room 118.
ALEXA: During lunch, Diversity Club will be selling forever roses for $2. There are 3 different colors of flowers that you can send to anyone of your choosing.
SIENNA: They will be delivered during tutorial on the 14th. All proceeds will benefit the Drama Club.

SIENNA: Tomorrow, Bible Study will be meeting in tutorial, in Burtis’s room.
ALEXA: The Key Club bake sale will be on February 6th at 4:30.

ADDI:: The academic team improved to 8-0 with wins over Harrison 64-31 and 64-28.  They were led by a strong performance by team captain Julian Danoff.  The JV team kept their perfect record intact, winning. 65-58.  They were led by Olive Rice.

Bowling ended their regular season last night against Edgewood. Congrats on a good season, bowlers. And, a special shout out to senior bowlers, Josephine Thompson and Derek Hacker.
