Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Monday October 29th, 2018

Attention Seniors:  Don’t forget that some schools have a November 1st application deadline if you want to be eligible for scholarships.  That’s Thursday.  Let your school counselor know if you have any questions.

Congratulations to the Talawanda Marching Band on an outstanding performance Saturday evening.  The band traveled to the Colerain Marching Band Invitational and competed in class AAAA.  Once again they won best percussion and placed second overall in their class.  Great job band!

Attention singers, songwriters, poets, artist, bands:  Setting Stone’s first Coffee House of the year will be held next Friday, November 9th.  Anyone interested in performing should sign up outside of MR. Aerni’s room (320) THIS WEEK!  The last day to sign up is Friday!  Also reminder that Setting Stone will meet today, right after school, in Mr. Aerni’s room.

And now for a review on Mix it Up Day.

Lists are now posted outside the Guidance Office for students who have qualified for our first quarter honor breakfast.  It will be Friday, November 2nd.  9th and 10th grades will be 2nd period and 11th and 12th grades will be 3rd period.  Please let Mrs. Roy know if your name is not spelled correctly or you think you have qualified but your name is not on the list.

And now for WHAT’S THE T and Patty G with sports.

The Red Sahx are 2018 World Champions after a 5-1 game 5 victory in Los Angeles last night. They win the Series 4 games to 1. It is the 4th World Series title in 15 years for the Sahx, and the 11th major sports title for the city of Boston since the year 2000. The party is still on in Beantown and doesn’t look to end anytime soon, the Red Sox parade is Wednesday.

The Braves cross country team had a successful showing at the regional meet this past weekend in Troy, Ohio.  For the boys, David Kraushar and Kiefer Bell both ran outstanding races and ended up finishing in the top half of the field for the boys.  Kiefer has had a phenomenal season as a freshman and congratulations to David for a great four years, he has made the entire team proud.  For the girls, 5 of the 7 girls ran their personal bests at Troy, in rainy and cold conditions.  Libby Farmer, Abby Bahlau, Hannah Lippencott and Zoe Moore all ran their best times.  Overall the girls placed 11th, their teams best showing ever at the regional meet.  The best moment of the day belongs to Maddy Iden, who ran a personal best of 19:04 and placed 19th overall, qualifying her for the state meet.  Maddy is the first female runner to make it to state since the 1980s.

The football team fell to Ross on Friday night by a score of 18-7 in their final game of the season. The Braves finish 2018 with an overall record of 2-8, they were 0-6 in the SWOC, so we congratulate the football team on their hard work this season.

And that’s our broadcast on this Monday.  I’m Patrick Geshan. Thank you so much for watching — and have a great day.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

In last night’s annual Powderpuff tournament, the juniors won for the second straight year, after knocking off the seniors in the championship game. So congratulations to the juniors, who keep the bragging rights for another year. A great event raising money for a great organization in Best Buddies.

So it’s Friday and the football team will play in their final game of the season tonight against archival Ross. The Rams are coming off a 52-6 win over Meadowdale, a school from Dayton, last Thursday. Their overall record coming in is 4-5 overall and 1-4 in the SWOC. Tonight’s students section theme for the final game of the season will be a Country Out, which will be harder for some people to pull off than others.

And we also send our good luck to the cross country team who runs in their regional meet tomorrow for a chance to advance to states. The top 7 girls and Kiefer Bell and David Kraushar for the boys will run in Troy tomorrow morning, so run hard guys and we’ll be anxious to see how you do this weekend.

And lastly, Game 3 of the World Series comes your way tonight from LA, The Red Sox have a 2-0 series lead over the Dodgers and it starts tonight at 8 ET.

And that’s our broadcast on this Friday.  I’m Patrick Geshan. Thank you so much for watching — and have a great weekend.

Well two things, I haven’t gotten the epidemic yet and Good job Luke even though I had to remind you the capital isn’t Toronto. Well the girls soccer team had no trouble at all getting past the first round of the playoffs with a 5-0 victory over Princeton at home last night.  Ainsley Clark had a hat-trick in the game with Jenna Jarvis and Sophie Pohlable adding tallies. The girls next postseason game will be against the Mason Comets in Mason on Saturday at 7.

There are no other Talawanda results to report from last night, but we wish our good luck to the volleyball team who plays in THEIR first round playoff matchup tonight at Colerain.  The Braves have not faced the Cardinals yet this year. The field hockey team fell to Ursuline last night by a score of 6-0 in their first round playoff game, ending their season. So we congratulate the field hockey team on a successful year.

There are no other Talawanda results to report from last night, but in boys soccer, Oak Hills knocked off Kings 3-1 in first round playoff action yesterday, so the boys soccer team will play Oak Hills in their first playoff game at home on Thursday.

And the girls soccer team will begin their playoffs tonight at home against Princeton. Kickoff is 7pm at the High School. Princeton beat Talawanda 1-0 in a first round playoff matchup last year — so the Braves are looking for some revenge tonight. Again, 7pm at the field for the girls soccer team. A reminder that no Braves sports passes will not be taken at the gate tonight, the only passes accepted will be Southwest Ohio district passes. Tickets are $6 for both students and adults for the playoff games at home.

And that’s our broadcast on this Tuesday.  I’m Patrick Geshan — hoping to report some wins tomorrow. Thank you so much for watching — and have a great day.
