Anxiety disorders are common in teenagers.  Nearly 1 in 3 teens meet the criteria for some form of anxiety by the age of 18.  Playing sports and exercise can be an antidote to anxiety.  Exercise releases endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood.  Regular physical activity can reduce stress and increase your sense of well-being.  Get active Talawanda.

Stress can be a factor in mental health concerns.  Stress affects the mind and the body.  For teens, school and grades can be major stressors.  Take a deep breath, it’s the end of 3rd quarter.  Deep breathing increases oxygen to all part of the body, It decreases stress, detoxifies the body, increases energy, and lowers blood pressure.

Mental illness is a problem with brain function.  There are a lot of different types.  1 in 5 teens suffer from a mental illness of some sort.  And it can look different for each person. No body chooses to have a mental illness.  Laughter is strong medicine to counteract these issues.  It strengthens your immune system, boosts mood, reduces pain and protects you from the damage of stress.  Have a good laugh today.  And join in laughter with your friends and the Hoops for Hope tournament on Saturday.
