SIENNA: For those feeling thankful this holiday season, a great way to spread cheer is by recognizing someone with a BRAVE Award.
ALEXA: BRAVE Awards are for those that are demonstrating positivity through “Being Respectful And Valuing Everyone”. Students can recognize fellow students and staff members, and staff can recognize other staff.
SIENNA: To recognize someone with a BRAVE Award, click on the “THS BRAVE Award” icon on the portal homepage, or scan the QR code in the corners of the screen.
ALEXA: Your kind words will be shared with the person you are recognizing. Keep up the positivity and all that you do to make THS a great place to be!
SIENNA: Diversity Club will meet TODAY after school in Mrs. Schultze’s room, room 400.
ALEXA: Bible study will meet in Mr. Burdis’s room, room 515, during tutorial on Friday.
SIENNA: And, THS Drama Club’s production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest starts this Friday and runs through Sunday.
ALEXA: Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with a 2:00 pm. matinee on Sunday.
SIENNA: Tickets for all shows are 8 dollars.
ALEXA: Best Buddies has some upcoming events, as well.
SIENNA: Alexa and I met up with Mrs. Sammons to talk about some of those events:

ADDI:    Conference awards have officially been released so here are the talawanda athletes who received awards for the 2023 season.

The first team all conference athletes for their respective sports are Caleb Dillhoff, AJ hainline, Owen King, Meech Morris-Williams, Myah Keene, Callie McCoullough, Abby Noga, Olivia Andrews, Julie Watt, Jaklyn Wynn, Stephen Mullally, Max Bixler, Bryson fears, Garrison franks, Sadie Abbitt, Clara Cradduck, Adriana Lukking, Lucia Rodbro, Abbie Curry, Julie Page, Layla Fritzsche, and Alyssa Hornsby.

The Second Team athletes are Lance Cantrell, Landon Coffey, Cale Leitch, Tad Polly, Leah Noga, Riley Eversole, Savannah Marcum, Lyla Spurlock, Dimitri Garrret, Elias Jones, Patrick Mullally, Grady Pennington, Eli Suttman, Jesse Troy, Lily Franks, Molly Vangorden, Dani Peters, Catherine Moul, and Emma Lake.

Swoc honorable mentions are Wyatt Jones, Mckenna Johnson, Gabby Dillon, Harrison Zhang, Evan Messner, Makayla Chaney, and Kyle Hackney

Finally, the Swoc sportsmanship award recipients were Brayden Glass, Emma Puckett, Kaylyn Machecko, Henry Lahrman, Max Bixler, Lucia Robdro, and Julie Page.

Huge congratulations to all of those athletes.

Tomorrow Mrs. Greggory and FCCLA will be putting on a breakfast and assembly to honor veterans in our community. THS News Correspondents Brianna and Alexis met up with Mrs. Gregory to get more information on tomorrow’s events.

DOM: One final reminder that the Setting Stone Coffee House that was planned for tonight has been canceled. Follow Setting Stone on instagram @settingstonemag for information on the next Coffee House in February.
WILL: The Butler Tech Career Day field trip for sophomores will happen on Thursday, November 16th.
DOM: Permission slips for the field trip are due tomorrow. Forms should be turned in to Mr. Barter, who can be found in room 519, located next to the clinic.
WILL: As you know, Tuesday is voting day in the country, and there are many issues on the ballot.
DOM: To help kids who aren’t voting age yet get involved in the democratic process, some social studies classes will participate in the Kids Vote. Here with more on this is a video THS News Correspondent Bryanna put together:

ADDI:    Lucia Rodbro and Max Bixler will be running in the State Cross Country meet tomorrow at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio, just outside of Columbus. Go get ‘em, runners.

Also, the Powderpuff game was last night. The championship game between the juniors and seniors went into overtime, where the seniors pulled out the win. Final score: 6 – 0.

And, basketball will have tryouts tonight from 6 to 8 in the gym.

Just another reminder that tomorrow’s Setting Stone Coffee House has been canceled.

Due to a low number of acts, Setting Stone has had to cancel Friday’s Coffee House. The next Coffee House is scheduled for February–follow Setting Stone on instagram @settingstonemag for more information.

The Powderpuff football game is taking place tonight out at the stadium.
WILL:
Games get underway at 6:00. And, students can still bring in their registration to play, you just won’t get a t-shirt.

The Butler Tech Career Day field trip for sophomores will happen on Thursday, November 16th.

GARTH: Also, Project Green meets today after school in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 224.
WAYNE: Yeah, excellent. Tomorrow, NHS will hold its induction ceremony in the PAC at 7:00.

WAYNE: No way, Garth. It’s the Performing Arts Center. And, it’s for National Honors Society-a nationally recognized organization for students who meet the highest standards of excellence.

WAYNE: Way! Oh, and on Thursday Mock Trial will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 in Dr. Weatherwax’s room, room 3:15.
GARTH: And, after that, Talawanda Tribune will meet from 7:30 to 8:15.

DOM: The Setting Stone Coffee House will be held on Friday, November 3rd.
WILL: Tickets for the Coffee House will go on sale tomorrow. Pick up yours from Mr. Aerni in room 320.
DOM: Additionally, if you signed up to perform at the November 3rd Coffee House, there will be a mandatory meeting today, right after school.
WILL: Yes, this quick meeting will take about 15 minutes. If you have a good reason to not make the meeting, you should connect with Mr. Aerni some time today.
DOM: The YIT pickleball bash will take place today!
WILL: Yes…The pickleball bash is a friendly, fun, exciting  tournament, and will be held at the Tri Pickleball courts in Oxford from 4 to 6 this afternoon. Don’t miss it!.
DOM: Also, today is the last day to register and pay to participate in the November 2nd Powderpuff game.
WILL: That’s right. As of right now, there aren’t enough people officially registered to hold the event. In order to have the game, more people need to register for each team.
DOM: Register today! The Powderpuff game will take place on Thursday night, November 2nd.
WILL: Coming up on Wednesday, Diversity club will meet after school in Mrs. Schultze’s room, room 400.
DOM: And, later Wednesday night, NHS is having its induction ceremony.
WILL: The ceremony will take place in that PAC Wednesday night at 7:00.
DOM: As most of you know, members of the junior and senior classes traveled to Washington DC last week.

Diversity Club’s Halloween celebration will be this Friday during tutorial in room 400. All are welcome at this event.
Here’s a reminder from Voila–we are in the last few days of “Socktober.”
That’s right. Voila is still collecting new pairs of socks through October 31st, so don’t forget those socks.
You can drop new pairs of socks off to Ms. Lefevers in room 118.
And, speaking of donations, Key Club is still looking for donations of jars of peanut butter, boxed mac and cheese, and canned tuna. Items should be dropped off to your first period teacher.
Additionally, Key Club’s “Boo-ing” fundraiser is happening all week at lunch.
Yep–stop by their table at lunch and send a message and piece of candy to a friend.
And, don’t forget about the YIT pickleball bash on Monday.
The pickleball bash is a friendly, fun tournament, and will be held at the Tri Pickleball courts in Oxford from 4 to 6 on October 30.
The Setting Stone Coffee House will be held on Friday, November 3rd.
Tickets for the Coffee House will go on sale on Monday.

Signups for the November 3rd Powderpuff game are happening now. Sign up outside of Mr. Z’s room, room 301. Registration is $15, and all proceeds go to benefit the Best Buddies club.
Setting Stone will have a regular meeting today, after school, in Mr. Aerni’s room. All members should plan to attend to discuss the new printing date, as well as the upcoming Coffee House.
And, speaking of the Coffee House–Signups are happening now for any performer who would like to perform on November 3rd.
That’s right. If you are interested in performing at the November 3rd Coffee House, sign up today outside of Mr. Aerni’s room, room 320.
Another meeting taking place today after school is Art Club in Mrs. Claire’s room, room 603
as well as Project Green, meeting in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 224.
Hey, Marley–you know what time of year it is, right?
I do–it’s spooky season! And, to celebrate, there are a couple events happening today.
Best Buddies is hosting their trick-or-treat event after school. Members can go to participating classrooms to pick up some treats.
Later tonight FCCLA will host its “Trunk-or-Treat” event in the THS parking lot. This will run from 6:00 to 7:30 and, in addition to treats, will feature crafts, a photo shoot, games, and fire trucks!
Voila is still collecting socks for its “Socktober” event. They will continue collecting through October 31st, so don’t forget those socks. You can drop new pairs of socks off to Ms. Lefevers in room 118.
The Talawanda Team of Social Workers will be distributing all donated socks to families in the Talawanda School District. Voila would like to thank everyone who has donated so far.
Most of you know that students from THS junior and senior classes are currently in Washington DC.

In other news, you can still bring in jars of peanut butter, boxed mac and cheese, and canned tuna to your first period class all this week.
Key Club is also doing a fundraiser all this week. It’s called “Boo-ing”
Yes, Key Club will have a table set up at lunch all week where students can buy candy and send anonymous messages to friends. Check it out.
Another event coming up soon is the YIT pickleball bash: fall tournament.
This event will be held at the Tri Pickleball courts on Monday, October 30th from 4 to 6 p.m. The winning team will receive a prize.
