Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Wednesday, October 9th, 2019

Spirit week is this week.  Today is 80s day, and Thursday is class color day with Freshmen wearing red, Sophomores in Blue, Juniors in White, and Seniors in Black.  Dress up and have a great time!

Key Club is raising money for the Thirst Project, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping provide safe drinking water in places where it’s not readily available, as well as help build wells for villagers across Africa.  We will raise this money by selling water themed pins during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the rest of the month.  The minimum pin is only $1, but feel free to donate more!  Try to get a pin as soon as possible, as we have limited supply.

The Fall Spooktacular Blood Drive will be held October 30th all students 16 and over are able to donate blood.  With each donation three lives are saved!  Pick up forms during lunch, in the office or room 611.

The volleyball team fell on senior night in 3 sets yesterday they play tonight at Badin.

The boys soccer team fell to Northwest 2-0 yesterday on senior night they will play Turpin in the Playoffs on Saturday.

The girls soccer defeated Northwest by a 6-0 score to close out the regular season they play Monday vs Winton Woods.

The girls soccer team tied Ross yesterday in a score less game they are now 4-1-4 in the SWOC and 8-3-4 overall. Their next game is today at Northwest.

The boys soccer team fell to Ross 4-3 yesterday night they play at home on senior night vs Northwest today.

The girls volleyball team fell to Winton Woods in 4 sets yesterday, they play tonight at home versus Edgewood in their volley for the cure game it is also senior night and we’ll stream it for you on YouTube I’ll have the call for you at 7.

Setting Stone Magazine was recently awarded a silver medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Come celebrate with us at the magazine’s official release party Today, October 7, right after school, in the space above the Media Center. The new magazine will be available to check out and/or purchase, and we will have coffee and snacks, as well. Hope to see you there!

The boys soccer team fell to Kings by a 4-1 score they fall to 4-8-2 on the year and their next game is today at home versus Ross.

The Freshmen football team defeated the Harrison WIldcats on Saturday to a score of 41 to 22.  The team improves to 3 and 1 on the season and they remain undefeated (3-0) in SWOC play. 

The Varsity football team fell to Harrison by a 42-7 score they fall to 4-2 on the year and 0-2 in the SWOC they play in the homecoming game this Friday and it will be a pink out.

The high school cross country team had another great performance on Saturday at Eaton.  The girls won the meet on a tie-breaker and beat the field of 10 teams.  The Brave had five girls in the top 13, with Hannah LIppincott 2nd, Maddy Iden 5th, Libby Farmer 6th, Lilly Iden 12th, and Eva Motta 13th.  Kylee Carver and Abby Bahlau rounded out the top 7 with personal best times.  Hannah Farnsworth, Asya Walsh, Brooke Hubbard, and Bella Walter also ran personal best times.  The boys ran another good race to finish in third place out of 14 teams.  Kiefer Bell was 2nd in the field of 187 runners.  Logan Murray was also in the top 10 with a 6th place finish.  The team had 15 personal records of the 22 runners that ran.  Both teams look forward to running the SWOC Meet at home on Friday.  Races start at 9:30.  Please come out and support the cross country team as they attempt to sweep the SWOC titles.

The girls golf team performed well at Sectionals on Monday, the team shot a 412, Jada Tegge shot a 94, other scorers for the Brave were Alysse Aylor shot a 101, Sophia Moore shot a 105, and Grace Clawson shot a 112. The Brave finish their season 16-4, 8-2 in the conference, good for second place.

JV Tennis defeated Ross yesterday, the Varsity team will head to Sectionals tomorrow.

We will be taking a spirit bus to Harrison this Friday for the football game so sign-ups will be in the athletic office, make sure to pack the stadium this Friday.

Home games for today: Boys soccer hosts Mount Healthy at 7, that game will be livestreamed on Channel 85, Grady Holmes will have the call for you there, and the Volleyball teams host Harrison, Freshman at 4:30, JV at 5:45, and Varsity at 7, the Varsity game will be livestreamed on ICRC TV, I’ll have that call so two livestreams in one night, a busy night for us at Channel 85.

The football team fell to Little Miami on Friday night by a 41-19 score they fall to 4-1 on the year and their next game is this Friday at Harrison.

Mr. Thomas was sitting in the dark playing Clash Royale in his room today when he told me that the girls tennis team placed 2nd at the SWOC championships yesterday the girls also placed second in the overall regular season standings Allie Flick placed 4th in the first singles section and Bethany Dickman and Lilia Hool placed 3rd in first doubles.

The girls soccer team had a dominating win on a bounceback night yesterday they defeated the Harrison Wildcats by a 5-1 score they improve to 5-3-3 on the year and play tomorrow at Union County.

The boys soccer team tied Harrison 0-0 they are now 2-7-2 on the year and play next Tuesday against Mount Healthy that game will be livestreamed on Channel 85.

Home games for today: Field hockey hosts Dublin Scioto JV at 5 Varsity at 6:30.

Congrats to Matt June on showing up on time to school for 10 days in a row.

And the football team will head to Little Miami tonight to face the Panthers looking to improve their season record to 5-0.
