There will be a FFA meeting after school today in the PAC

POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL will take place on Thursday, October 27th at 6pm.  Signups are outside Room 301, consent forms are due this FRIDAY!

Students interested in being part of the Chick -fil-A leadership academy: we will have our first meeting today right after school in room 611.  Please sign up outside the office.

Start off your fall break with a movie night at THS, sponsored by YIT!  Join us tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. for a movie, snacks and fun!  No cost and all THS students are welcome!

Volleyball dropped Senior Night to Badin in 3 sets yesterday, the team will have one final regular season game at Ross tomorrow.

Girls Soccer demolished Northwest 6-1 closing out the home slate of the season, the girls will have their final regular season game tomorrow at Ross as well.

Make sure to vote Hannah Kolb for Cincinnati Enquirer field hockey player of the week, her hat trick against Dublin Scioto currently has her in first place, let’s keep it that way.

No home games today but Field Hockey will close out their regular season on the road at Oakwood for a 7 o’clock match.

We might not make a massive dent, but imagine the difference that even talawanda alone can make! Brave Football lost to Edgewood 48-10 to close out 2022’s home games, Hayden Marcum had 6 receptions for 78 yards and a TD in the loss, two more games left in the season beginning with a road trip to Mt. Healthy on Friday.
Field Hockey defeated Dublin Scioto on Saturday 3-1, Hannah Kolb had all three goals for the Lady Brave and the team will head to Summit Country Day for a match at 6pm.
Girls Soccer also came out with a win on Saturday, the girls bested Edgewood 3-1, scoring for the Lady Brave were Jillian Wynn, Mckenzie Hanson, and Rylyn Jackson.
One home game today as Boys Soccer will play their second to last SWOC match of the season vs Edgewood at 7, and on the road Volleyball will also take on Edgewood in a critical conference match, both teams sit at 6-2 in SWOC play and the winner of the game will have sole possession of 2nd in the standings, wrapping up todays games would be Field Hockey who is off to Summit Country Day for a match at 6.

Friday, October 7th

 

Good morning Talawanda, today is Friday, October 7th, 2022.

Prospective baseball players: available players are strongly encouraged to help out tomorrow–Saturday, October 8th–with field duties from 10 Am to Noon. Bring work gloves as well as shovels and wheelbarrows if possible!
Are you interested in community service, and leadership opportunities? Then you should join Key Club. Our next meeting will be on Monday, October 10th right after school in Mrs. Caraballo’s room (218) to discuss fall service options. We always love having new members join us.

Volleyball swept Northwest for their 6th conference win of the season, the girls are now tied for 2nd in SWOC play with a 6-2 record
Both Soccer teams lost last night, the boys suffering a 2-0 conference defeat to Northwest and the girls falling to St. Ursula.
Boys Golf had their sectionals and Connor Schulte shot a 77, that was good enough to qualify him for districts in Springboro. Congrats and good luck to Connor.
One home game tonight, its football senior night as the boys are hosting Edgewood for a 7 o’clock conference match. The theme is a pink out for cancer awareness. It’s the last home game of the year so make sure to come out and support our team. On Saturday field hockey has a 1 o’clock match at home vs Dublin Scioto and Girls soccer heads to Edgewood for a game at 4.

FAFSA day for seniors is today, in the media center, from 10am to 6pm

Volleyball was on the road at Preble Shawnee last night, the team lost in 5 sets to move their overall record to 13 and 5. The girls are right back at it tonight at home vs Northwest.
Field Hockey lost to St. Ursula and will have a Saturday Matinee vs Dublin Scioto as their next match
Only one home game today as Volleyball will host Northwest for a conference match at 7pm, and on the road Boys Soccer will be at Northwest for a 7 o’clock SWOC match, and Girls Soccer will head to St. Ursula for a non-conference game at 6.
That’s our sports for today, but will leave you with a spooky story called The Waltening.

Wednesday, October 5th

 

Good morning Talawanda today is Wednesday, October 5th 2022.

BRAVE Day, Talawanda’s annual family and community building event for Sophomores is being held tomorrow for Sophomores M-Z. You will be called out of first period after attendance is taken and report to the upper gymnasium. Lunch will be provided.
Now for Zander with Moore Sports
Volleyball swept Mt. Healthy last night in 3 straight sets, the girls now have a 5-2 record in the SWOC with 3 conference matchups remaining. The team will head to Preble Shawnee for a match at 7.
Girls Soccer lost to CHCA last night 2-0, the Lady Brave will play next on Thursday vs St. Ursula.
On the flip side, Boys Soccer blew out Mt. Healthy in a 9-4 shootout, Star Forward Logan Kent tallied 5 goals and 2 assists in the victory, also scoring were Caleb Bogseth, Dimitri Garret, Ben Miley, and Steve Mullaly. The boys will finish off the regular season with 3 straight SWOC matches beginning Thursday at Northwest.
Girls Golf was at Sectionals yesterday, the team placed 14th in the tournament placing ahead of Edgewood, Keylee Goerss finished 27th out of 77 and that concludes the teams season. Congrats on a great year ladies.
No home games today but Volleyball will be on the road at treble Shawnee for a 7 o’clock match, and Boys Golf has their sectionals today, good luck to them.

Tuesday, October 4th

JV Boys Golf took out Badin yesterday to complete the undefeated season, the boys went 24-0 in their dominant campaign. Congratulations to Coach Cawein, Josh Berger, Pierson Byrd, Drew Eckerle, Elias Gingerich, Kyle Goins and all the other people who helped out the boys complete their perfect season.

Also congrats to Halen Thomas as she made it all the way to the sweet 16 of tennis sectionals yesterday before falling to the 3rd seed from Lakota East in a hard fought match.

Boys Soccer lost to Winton Woods 3-0 last night, they’ll get a chance to bounce back tonight when they head to Mt. Healthy for a SWOC match.

A couple home games tonight, Volleyball is hosting Mt. Healthy at 7pm and after a cancelled game last night, Girls soccer will be back at home taking on CHCA at 7. On the road Boys Soccer heads to Mt. Healthy for a conference match at 5 and Girls Golf will be at their sectional tournament, good luck to them.

The Talawanda Diversity Club will meet after school today from 3 – 3:45 in room 221. We are always looking for new members, so please come and check it out

Model UN will have a meeting in Ms. Lefevers room after school today

Now for Zander with Moore Sports
Brave Football lost to Ross Friday Night 28-0, the offense stalled against the Ross defense totaling only 99 yards in the defeat. The team sits in 5th in the SWOC standings still ahead of 0-2 Harrison and the teams next game will be the last home game and Senior Night vs Edgewood on Friday.
Moving to Saturday the Cross Country Teams competed in the Centerville Night Lights, the girls team finished 6th out of 34 schools and Lucia Rodbro placed 3rd out of 280 runners with a 5k time of 18:48. The boys finished 7th out of 36 schools in their race, the highest placer for the Brave was Max Bixler who had a 5k time of 16:56.
Girls Soccer took out Eaton 4-1 on Saturday, Addi Thacker and Zada Young both tallied a goal and Jillian Wynn scored twice in the victory. The Lady Brave will have a packed week starting off tonight vs Winton Woods.
One home games today as Girls Soccer hosts Winton Woods at 6pm, on the road Boys head to Winton Woods for a non-conference match at 7pm and Girls Golf travels to Eaton for a 4 o’clock match
That’s our sports for today but Anna Newlin, who ran out of ideas, makes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches blind folded.

Friday, September 30th

 

Good morning Talawanda today is Friday, September 30th, 2022.

The Talawanda Diversity Club will meet after school on Monday, October 2, from 3 – 3:45 in room 221. We are always looking for new members, so please come and check it out

Mr. Kelly’s current events classes have been trying forever to get a shout out on CNN’s daily ten, by commenting on their YouTube videos each time they watch them.  On Wednesday, Mr. Kelly’s lifelong dream of being recognized by a news organization other than Brave Daily News finally came true….

Seniors who would like to help with Brave Day permission slips are due to Mr. Zimmerman today.

Field Hockey lost to Ursaline 5-0 last night, their next game will be Wednesday vs Ursula
JV Boys Golf took out Colerain 200-208 improving their perfect record to 23-0, the boys will look to go undefeated Monday when they host Badin.
Tennis concluded SWOC play at their tournament yesterday, the team placed fifth and finished the year with an overall record of 8-13.
Lots of games over the weekend starting with Football who is hosting Ross at 7pm, the boys are looking to stay undefeated in the SWOC, and the theme is a Camo and Country out. Girls soccer heads to Eaton tomorrow for a non-conference match, the start time is 12:45pm. Boys Golf heads to Green Crest for the Monroe Invitational, tee off at noon. And Concluding the weekend is Cross Country who heads to Centerville for the Centerville Night Lights.

Attention all College-bound Seniors – there will be a College Essay Workshop after school today from 3:00-4:30 in the Cafeteria. Please bring your draft essays and Chromebooks as Admission Representatives from Miami will be on hand to provide free, 1-1 help with your essays and personal statements!

The THS School Counselors will be hosting financial aid experts from Miami University today.  This presentation will be held from 5:30pm- 6:30pm in the PAC.  The presentation will provide an overview of the financial aid process, types of aid, and how to fund your child’s college education
Best Buddies members: our September meeting will be held today. Anyone who did not make our first meeting is welcome and encouraged to attend. We love having new members join us! Our meeting will be a fall fest with caramel apple pops, apple cider, and pie!

Brave Day for Sophomores will be held October 4th or October 6th for Sophomores, depending on your last name. Brave Day is Talawanda’s family building and school leadership event that is held every year for students. You will be receiving more information about this day in the next few weeks, and if you have any questions about the day please see Mr. Zimmerman in Room 301.
