The boys and girls cross country team had an awesome meet at home on Saturday.  Both teams won the Talawanda Brave Invitational!  The girls backed up their top-10 ranking in the state with a dominating win.  They placed 6 girls in the top 10.  Hannah Lippincott, Maddy Iden, and Libby Farmer took the first 3 places, Eva Motta was 5th, Lilly Iden 8th, and Zoe Moore was 10th.  Abby Bahlau, Hannah Hoblitzell, and Bella Walter also ran personal bests.  The boys squeaked out a 3 point win over Oak Hills to win the meet for the first time.  Kiefer Bell, Logan Murray, and Jens Bartel were 2nd-3rd and 4th.  The deciding points were scored by Daniel Sawdai and Benjamin Farmer when they passed Oak Hills’ 5th runner in the last few strides.  Both teams will travel to Miamisburg on Saturday.

And on Friday the football team had a scrimmage versus Roger Bacon, there was a great turnout to watch the Brave make their final adjustments before this Friday’s first home game versus Preble Shawnee we hope to see you all there and it is a black out.

And on Saturday the girls soccer team decimated Winton Woods by a score of 10-1 their record improves to 2-0 on the season. Ainsley Clark had a hat trick in that game they play next tomorrow at home versus Colerain.

The varsity golf team won their home match over Little Miami by a score of 162 to 205.  Medalist for the Brave was Dylan Slager with a score of 38.  The Brave improve their record to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the SWOC.

The JV golf team also won their match against Little Miami by a score of 200 to 258.  Medalist for the Brave was Owen Sweitzer with a score of 40.  The JV golf team now stands at 4-0 for the season.

Field Hockey opened their season playing at defending state semifinalist Ursuline Academy yesterday. JV lost 0-2 and Varsity lost 0-10.  Tatyanna Whalen had over 20 saves as goalie and she was the THS Player of the Game.

Home games for this weekend: The football team begins their new era with a scrimmage versus Roger Bacon tonight that one begins at 7, there will be games and food beginning at 4:30 and we will meet all of the fall sports teams tonight. And tomorrow the cross country team will race their home invitational action begins there at 9:15 tomorrow morning.

Last night the Boys Soccer Team fell to Badin by a score of 1-0 they fall to 0-1 on the season.

And also last night the Girls Golf Team defeated Colerain by a score of 222-234. Their record improves to 6-2 overall.

Home games for today: Boys Varsity Golf hosts Little Miami at 4 at Hueston Woods, Girls Varsity Tennis hosts Mount Healthy at 4 and we are now just 1 day away from the Braves barbecue, meet the team night and the home football scrimmage, so get ready for FOOBALLLLLLL!

Last night the girls soccer team defeated Eaton by a score of 3-1 on a night that looked like the game would be cancelled all the way up until an hour before kickoff. Goals in the game by Sophie Pohlabel, Ainsley Clark and McKenzie Hanson. They improve to 1-0 on the year and play next this Saturday vs Winton Woods.

And last night the girls volleyball team fell in a 4 set match to Taylor, they drop to 0-3 on the season.

Home games for today: Girls Varsity Tennis battles Badin, Girls Golf is set to match up with Colerain, and the Boys Soccer has their season opener that game is at Badin. Miami Hamilton will be hosting a college fair where over 100 colleges and universities will be in attendance. This event will be on Sept. 17 from 6:30-8. there will also be Financing Your Education workshop at 6pm prior to the college fair.

Welcome back Talawanda! It’s the first full week of school and fall sports season is already in full swing!

Congratulations to the girls cross country team for a great finish at the OHSAA Pre-Season Invitational on Saturday.  Facing 31 teams from across the state, the girls finished in 5th place.  Hannah Lippincott paced the girls with a 10th place finish out of 195 runners.  Maddy Iden and Libby Farmer were also in the top 33.  The boys ran well despite missing a few top runners.  Logan Murray was the top finisher in 45th out of 291 runners.  Jens Bartel also set a personal record in a time of 17:55 for the 5k course.  The team will race at home on Saturday beginning at 9:15.

Any fall sport athlete or coach who would like their scores to be announced make sure to report those to me my email address is lukewestpoley@talawanda.org.

No home games today but a reminder that the Braves Barbecue is this Friday before the football game, fall sports teams will be announced and there will be food, games, and fun so make sure to mark your calendars for this Friday.

So the Bruins will play for the Stanley Cup, Patty G would be proud. Last night in the NBA the Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Final with a 114-111 win.

The Lacrosse team ran into the buzzsaw of the #2 ranked Indian Hill in a 19-3 route of the Brave.  The Brave had some bright moments though in Grady Holmes scoring his 90th goal on the year, and in the final minutes Tommy Winkler scored his final goal and Trent Rumpler breaking his final stick in a Talawanda Uniform.  The Brave end the season with their best record ever at 11-8.

Anyone interested in playing on the Men’s Golf team next year, there is a parent meeting at 4:30 at the Hueston Woods golf course on Sunday May 19th.  The first team workout will follow the meeting.  Contact Mr. Cawien or Mr. Gloeckner if you have any questions.

Last night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the San Jose Sharks took the 2-1 lead in the series with an overtime win over the Blues, and in the NBA, the Bucks took the 1-0 series lead over the Raptors in the East Final.

The Track team had a successful outing at the first day of Districts last night at Ross. Congratulations to the girls and boys 4 x 800 relay teams for qualifying to the Regional Meet next week.  The team of Hannah Lippincott, Eva Motta, Libby Farmer, and Maddy Iden ran a season best time to finish 4th and advance.  The team of Kiefer Bell, Jens Bartel, Logan Murray, and David Kraushar also ran a season best time to be crowned District Champions.  Both teams will compete next Wednesday. Running in finals on Friday will be: Kyra Koontz in the 100m dash, 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, Justin Browning in the 110 hurdles, Tyler Engelhard in the 400m dash and and our 800m runners of Hannah Lippincott, Jens Bartel and Kiefer Bell. Good luck to all the runners, jumpers and throwers.

Last night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Boston Bruins took a 3-0 commanding lead over the Bunch of Jerks in the Eastern Conference Final, and the Golden State Warriors won the first game in the West Final in the NBA.

The Baseball team fell to Lebanon last night by a 4-3 margin, they end their season with an overall record of 12-14, and a SWOC record of 5-7. Congrats to the baseball team on a great season.

Home games for today: Track team heads to Ross for the District Prelims tonight action begins at 4.

The Lax Bros got their first regional tournament victory at home last night over La Salle. The raging student section helped carry the team to an 11-7 victory in the first round, Grady Holmes had 4 goals in the 4th Quarter, they will head to Indian Hill on Thursday for the next round.
