Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Friday, August 23rd, 2019

Any students interested in science related to nature or the environment are welcome to attend an Open House in room 224 (Mrs. Ruther’s room) on Wednesday, August 28th at 1:35pm. Come see what the Environment and Natural Sciences Club is all about!

The Diversity Club is having its first meeting on Tuesday the 27th, after school in room 312. Diversity is an activist group that works to make Talawanda a more inclusive and accepting place. Come to the meeting to learn about their exciting plans for the year ahead!

Students interested in Mock Trial:  Our first practice and informational meeting will be on Monday 8/26 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in room 417 at THS.  Practices this year will be Mondays 5-8 and two Sundays a month from 3:00-5:00.

Any sophomore or junior taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16 should sign up in the guidance office with Mrs. Roy. The cost is 20$. Please have your payment ready when you sign up. The last day to register is September 6. See Mr. Phelps in room 518 or your guidance counselor if you have any questions.

NHS seniors: We will meet in Ms. Alfonsi’s room on Thursday, August 29 right after school.  Please check your email for information regarding officer elections.

Attention all students interested in participating in Model UN this year, there is an informational meeting about this year’s program on August 29th in Mr McGhehey’s room, room 411, from 2:30 to 3:15.  Informational sheets and sign-ups for countries are located outside room 411 and are first-come-first-serve.  For additional information contact Mr McGhehey, Benjamin Farmer or Rian DelVecchio.

Setting Stone will meet on Monday, after school, in room 320. If you are interested in being a part of Talawanda’s award-winning literary-arts magazine, or helping out at Setting Stone Coffee Houses, or just hanging out with an incredible group of kids, join us on Monday! We hope to see you there.

There are no birthdays today, but tom orrow is Mrs. Hoffman’s birthday and Sunday is Mr. Zimmerman’s birthday, so wish them happy early birthdays.

And now for Whats the T and Luke WP

The varsity golf team won their home match over Little Miami by a score of 162 to 205.  Medalist for the Brave was Dylan Slager with a score of 38.  The Brave improve their record to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the SWOC.

The JV golf team also won their match against Little Miami by a score of 200 to 258.  Medalist for the Brave was Owen Sweitzer with a score of 40.  The JV golf team now stands at 4-0 for the season.

Field Hockey opened their season playing at defending state semifinalist Ursuline Academy yesterday. JV lost 0-2 and Varsity lost 0-10.  Tatyanna Whalen had over 20 saves as goalie and she was the THS Player of the Game.

Home games for this weekend: The football team begins their new era with a scrimmage versus Roger Bacon tonight that one begins at 7, there will be games and food beginning at 4:30 and we will meet all of the fall sports teams tonight. And tomorrow the cross country team will race their home invitational action begins there at 9:15 tomorrow morning.
