Good morning Talawanda, today is Monday, August 29th, 2022.

The Perfect Blend coffee shop is open Tuesday and Thursday this week.  Hot Drinks are $2 and cold drinks are $3.  Thanks for your support Talawanda.

Today is Crazy Sock Day in honor of Ohio’s FCCLA’s state project this year We Help Two.  We Help Two was founded on the belief that fundraising can be done in a way that benefits two causes.  By hosting a funky sock fundraiser through We Help Two, organizations not only raise funds for their cause but also impact their local community through their sock donation program to local homeless shelters.  FCCLA has partnered with We Help Two to support their Water for Africa program.  This incredible program helps to fund sustainable water projects throughout Africa.  These projects become a lifeline for the surrounding communities and reduce the risk of waterborne illnesses.  We can’t wait to see everyone’s crazy socks today, and are excited for tie-dye day tomorrow!

Best Buddies will host their first meeting of the year on Thursday right after school in room 316.  We will have an ice cream party, so if you are interested in Best Buddies, join us on Thursday for ice cream and fun!

Anyone interested in playing baseball for Talawanda this year should report to Coach Lykins’ room (413) during tutorial on Thursday September 1st for a brief informational meeting about fall workouts and community service opportunities.

Alyssa Black is showcasing girls tennis today, and after that, over to Zander Moore with Moore Sports 

Over the weekend the first cross country meet took place with the Talawanda Invite, the boys and girls teams both finished first as Max Bixler and Lucia Rodbros times of 17:07 and 19:49 won them their individual races. 7 girls and 5 boys finished in the top 10 of their respective races in the dominant Talawanda victory.

The football team also played over the weekend being defeated by Reading 20-6, Hayden Marcum with the lone Touchdown for the Brave, they fall to 0-2 and will be on the road this Friday for a Hawaiian out at Eaton.

The red hot Girls tennis team looks to win their 4th in a row at Mariemont, the match will be at 4.

We are filled with home games today as Boys Soccer will be hosting Hamilton, JV at 5 Varsity at 7, the Volleyball team will battle Fairfield JV at 5:30 Varsity at 7, and the Boys golf team will be at Hueston Woods teeing off against Colerain at 4:30.

Making its dramatic return, Bogseth and the boys give themselves Madden rating, part one of a four part series, enjoy.

The soccer teams both took losses to Colerain yesterday, the boys by a score of 6-1, the girls 5-0, Logan Kent scored the only goal of the night for the Brave, and both teams will have the weekend off.

Girls Tennis took their 3rd Win in a row last night— this time beating Edgewood 4-1, that’s their first conference win on the season and their 4th overall.

Girls golf lost a close one to Middletown yesterday, 229 to 230, medalist for the lady brave was Keylee Goerss who shot a 47. The girls will be back on the course Monday.

Looking to bounce back after a week 1 defeat the football team is hosting Reading tonight at 7 o’clock. The theme for the game is a USA out and tailgates will begin at around 6pm, make sure to show up and support the boys as they will be on the road for the next couple weeks.

The Volleyball team took their first loss of the season last night against Eaton being defeated in 4 sets. They will get ready for a non-conference matchup at home Monday, against Fairfield.

The Girls Golf team won their first match of the season defeating Edgewood 234 to 244, the medallist last night for the Lady Brave was Keylee Goerss who shot a 45, while Kayla Bennet, Kylee Fears, and Shemari Green all shot personal bests, the girls will be back in action tomorrow against Middletown.

The first boys basketball open gym will be a week from now, next Thursday the 1st, from 3:00 to 4:30. If you are interested in playing boys basketball this year make sure to head over.

The soccer teams are facing Colerain tonight, the boys will be at home at 7 o’clock the theme for the game is a pink out, while the ladies head will take on the Cardinals on the road.

Girls tennis will also be at home tonight coming off of back to back dominant wins, they’ll look to continue their roll against Edgewood at 4.

The girls soccer team had a big win over Princeton last night 4-1, Mckenzie Hanson led the way to victory with 2 goals as the girls move to 1 and 1 on the season, their next action will be on the road at Colerain.

Also taking a dominant win was girls tennis who records back to back shutouts taking out Monroe this time 5 to 0. The team improves to 3 and 3 on the year and will have their first conference matchup on Thursday.

Two home games for today as the volleyball team hosts Eaton at 7, it will be a neon out, and the girls golf team will take on Edgewood at the country club, that starting at 4.

The first Monday of the season is over as the volleyball team who
traveled to Valley View defeated them in 5 sets starting their season
2-0, they’ll be back on the court Wednesday.

Girls tennis shutout Hamilton 5-0 improving their record to 2-3, they
head right back into action at home tonight against Monroe.

Field Hockey battled Fairmont last night and settled with a 2-2 tie,
Anna Newlin and Sydnee Baryman with the first goals of the season for
the team, they head to Mount Notre Dame tonight.

Concluding Monday’s final scores, Boys Golf lost to Badin 189-164, the
team will have a week to get ready for their next match against
Colerain.

Only one home game tonight where the Girls Tennis team takes on Monroe
at 5pm tonight, while girls soccer heads to Princeton, that game
beginning at 7.

The football team fell to Monroe Friday night 35-16, Hayden Marcum’s 87 receiving yards and Logan Kent’s 42 yard field goal highlight the loss as the team is back in action at home this Friday for a USA out against Reading.

The soccer teams both took defeats to Taylor getting shutout in both games, the boys 6-0, the girls 2-0, they will look to get back on track as they have games later in the week.

Field Hockey lost to Lancaster 7-0, but the first win of the year comes from the Volleyball team as they beat Colerain in 4 sets. The girls will head to Valley View looking to improve to 2-0 on the young year.

Two home games today as the girls tennis team takes on Hamilton at 4:00pm while Boys Golf hosts Badin at Hueston Woods at the same time.

Good morning Talawanda, today is Friday, May 20th, 2022.

This is the last news day of the 2022 school year.

Exams kick off Monday with 7th period, followed by 1 and 2 on Tuesday, 3 and 4 on Wednesday, and 5 and 6 on Thursday

Now to relieve some of the stress from finals, we are showcasing some ways to relax, followed by Zander with Moore Sports.

Many members of the track team are competing at the District Finals tonight in Ross, they’re trying to punch their ticket to regionals, so wish them goodluck.

The Talawanda Track team traveled to Ross for the District competition yesterday.  Congratulations to Henry Hoblitzell: District champion in pole vault, Haley O’Brien: District runner up in High Jump, and good luck to all our finals qualifiers and the rest of the field events competing on Friday.

Last night the lacrosse team fell to the Turpin Spartans in the second round of the playoffs with a final score of 9-4.  Turpin was the 4 seed in the southwest bracket, and Talawanda was the 15th. After a loss to Turpin earlier in the year 17-3., the team put up one heck of a fight and improved tremendously over the course of the season.  The future looks bright, stay tuned for next year.

The baseball teams season ended last night against Anderson in a 7-4 loss that went to the 11th inning. Multiple errors cost the team 4 unearned runs in the loss as the heartbreaker puts the team at a season ending record of 18-8 overall and SWOC Champions. Congrats on a successful season.

The lacrosse team heads to Turpin for the second round of their playoffs looking to bounce back from a defeat to them earlier this year.
