Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Monday September 24th, 2018

Miami, UC, Wright State, Wilmington, and Cincinnati State will be in the PAC on Tuesday, September 25th at 5:30 pm for a college admissions panel which all students, grades 9-12, and their families are encouraged to attend.  Here are some topics that will be covered:  How do schools read your application?  What are they looking for?  What should you do if you’re undecided?  What happens on visits and why are they important?  How do you select a “fit” school?

Talawanda is offering students a free practice ACT test at THS.  We have partnered with TorchPrep, an innovative test training program that helps students improve their ACT scores.  The test will be given at THS on Saturday, October 6th at 10 am.  TorchPrep will meet with students on October 18th during the school day to go over results.  Students must be registered online by October 3rd.

Anyone interested in joining the club Girls Who Code, our first meeting will be this Wednesday, September 26th, right after school in room 220.  See Miss Klovekorn in 220 or Mrs. Caraballo in 218 with any questions.

Attention writers, artists, and photographers:  Setting Stone is looking for your original works!  Please send your poems, paintings, stories, photographs, wood cuts, drawings, or other original creative works to settingstone@talawanda.org, and check out our website at settingstone.org!

And now for a message from the recycling gorilla.

This week is Ally Week!  The THS Diversity Club invites all allies to show their support and attend Diversity’s meeting on Tuesday the 25th after school until 3:20 in room 312 to all about what it means to be a good ally, and how to help under-represented communities at THS.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

The football team fell on Friday in the homecoming game by a score of  48-16. Tyler Teeters went 15-25 with 165 yards and a touchdown pass in the air. He added 44 yards on the ground. Tyler Engelhard had 5 receptions for 21 yards and Terrell Wills rushed for 52. Dalton Norris also had a safety in the game. The Braves record falls to 2-3 overall, 0-1 in the SWOC and this week will host Harrison.

On Saturday, the boys soccer team fell 3-1 to Moeller on the road, the number 2 team in the state. It ends the boys undefeated season overall, but they definitely gave the best team in Southwest Ohio a run for their money. The Braves overall record is 8-1-0, and they will resume conference play on Tuesday at home against Little Miami — on the quest for a 3-peat.

Home games for today: Boys Varsity Golf plays Monroe at 4 but hopefully the rain stays away.

And that’s our broadcast on this Monday. I’m Patrick Geshan. Thank you so much for watching — and we’ll see you tomorrow.
