Last night the Washington Nationals took a 2-0 lead in the World Series with a 12-3 thrashing over Jose Altuve and the Astros game 3 is tomorrow at 8.

Huge congrats to both the Talawanda Ffa Chapter land evaluation teams at the state competition held on Saturday. The rural team finished in 6th place in Ohio and ALMOST qualified for the National contest in Oklahoma. Austin Weekley led the team with a 21st place finish, followed closely by Spencer Crauder, Dalton Schlichter, and Peyton Weekley. The urban team finished 12th in Ohio and was paced by Joseph Copeland, who was THE TOP INDIVIDUAL in the entire contest. Morgan Gillespie, Bryan Evans and Jordan Schulte also competed and did well in their first state event. GO AGGIES!

The Talawanda Marching Band traveled to Coleraine on Saturday for their second competition of the season.  The band placed 1st in their class and 5th overall out of 13 bands. The percussion section placed 2nd overall.  Good job band.

The football team pulled off a big win against rival Edgewood last fright in a 28-26 game Deondre Bothast-Revalee had 2 touchdowns and the Brave defense came up with a huge stop on a game-tying 2 point attempt for Edgewood in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Brave. They improve to 6-2 on the year and 2-2 in the conference and their next game is at home this Friday versus Northwest.

A huge congratulations to the Girls Cross Country Team for winning the District Cross Country Meet on Saturday.  This is the first District Championship since 1985!  Members of the team are Hannah Lippincott, Maddy Iden, Libby Farmer, Lilly Iden, Eva Motta, Kylee Carver, and Abby Bahlau.  The boys also accomplished a first since 1985 by qualifying to the Regional Meet.  Kiefer Bell, Logan Murray, Jens Bartel, Eliot Berberich, Benjamin Farmer, Daniel Sawdai, and Quinn Kissell accomplished that feat on Saturday.  The Regional Meet will be held on Saturday in Troy with the girls racing at 12:30 and the boys at 3:00.

Two nights ago the volleyball team fell to Colerain in 3 sets in the postseason I apologize for not having that on yesterday, congrats to the volleyball team on a great season.

The girls soccer team fell to Loveland by a 3-0 score yesterday in the second round of the state tournament they finish their season with a 10-4-4 record and a second place finish in the conference congrats to them on a great season.

Home games for today: None, but good luck to the football team as they continue their season campaign tonight against rival Edgewood in Trenton the game will begin at 7 the student section theme is now a camo out that is a change from the beginning of the week so make sure to show up in camo tonight.

Lastly we would like to wish luck to the cross country teams as they will head to their district meets tomorrow on their quests for deep runs into the state tournament, the meet is at Cedarville University, the girls will race at 1 and the boys at 1:45 tomorrow afternoon.

The girls soccer team defeated Winton Woods by a healthy margin the finals score last night was 9-0. Ainsley Clark broke the all time season scoring record with 24 on the season. They play next Thursday vs Loveland in the second round of the state tournament.

The cross country team dominated the SWOC championships at home on Saturday.  The boys and girls teams were both victorious and in the process set new league records for the fewest points scored.  Hannah Lippincott and Kiefer Bell were named runners of the year for their first place finishes.  Maddy Iden, Lilly Iden, Eva Motta, and Libby Farmer were named first-team SWOC for their efforts.  Logan Murray and Jens Bartel were also named first-team.  Kylee Carver, Abby Bahlau, Eliot Berberich, and Benjamin Farmer were named second-team.  The team will try to advance to the Regional Meet this Saturday as they run the District Meet at Cedarville.

And the football team defeated Mount Healthy in a wild game on Friday night the final in that one 24-6, Deondre Bothast-Revalee had 3 touchdowns in that one and the football team picks up their first SWOC win of the year, they also improve to 5-2 overall and they will look to guarantee a winning record this year on Friday at Edgewood it will be a jersey out.

Key Club is raising money for the Thirst Project, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping provide safe drinking water in places where it’s not readily available, as well as help build wells for villagers across Africa.  We will raise this money by selling water themed pins during lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the rest of the month.  The minimum pin is only $1, but feel free to donate more!  Try to get a pin as soon as possible, as we have limited supply.

The Fall Spooktacular Blood Drive will be held October 30th all students 16 and over are able to donate blood.  With each donation three lives are saved!  Pick up forms during lunch, in the office or room 611.

Congratulations to Dylan Slager on his performance at Districts a couple of days ago. The golf team’s season is over and came with a SWOC title this year so awesome job boys golf.

Events this weekend: Homecoming parade through town at 6, enjoy your day off for the fall break tomorrow, then head out tomorrow night to the homecoming football game at 7 it is a Pink Out and should be a great time as the team looks to pick up their first SWOC win of the year against the Owls of Mount Healthy. Then Saturday morning the Cross Country teams will be hosting the SWOC meet in the field behind the football stands with the girls team having their sights set on a third straight SWOC title and the boys hoping for their first since 2012, so come out and support your cross country team. Finally Saturday night will be the homecoming dance at 8, so have a great time at that.
