Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Friday, November 8th, 2019

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then come to compete for money and glory at the Smash Ultimate Tournament on November 26th!!! Key club will be hosting a Super Smash Brothers Ultimate video game tournament on Tuesday, November 26th, from 3 to around 6. The tournament will be held in room 301, and the entry fee will be 5 dollars when you show up.  80 percent of the money made will be going towards the Oxford food pantry, an organization that helps provide food for those who need it in Oxford.  In addition to the standard tournament that will go on, there will also be multiple areas where you can play the game for fun.  The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize.  To sign up, go write your name on the sheet outside of room 301. Mr. Hunsche and his AP students are starting an Art Club that will meet on Tuesdays after school until 4:00.  The meetings will be in Mr. Hunsche’s room and anyone is welcome to join.  Meetings will consist of group projects, art learning activities, and open studios.  The first meeting will be Tuesday, November 12th.

Did you know that the Talawanda Lacrosse Team won a home playoff game against LaSalle in the spring?!  Sounds pretty LAX if you ask me BRO.  If you would like to get in on that type of action and are interested in playing Lacrosse in the spring, swing by Coach Johnson’s room, room 120, after school this Thursday for a brief informational meeting.

Congrats to football players Terrell Wills and Deondre Bothast-Revalee for being named first team all SWOC this year and congrats to Senior Dalton Norris who was named SWOC defensive player of the year.

Did you know that the Talawanda Wrestling team had a Division 1 State Placer last winter?!  Sounds pretty RAW if you ask me.  If you would like to get in on that type of action and are interested in wrestling this winter, swing by Coach Johnson’s room, room 120, throughout the course of your school day to discuss the details.  There are 14 weight classes 106-285, and no more singlets.

Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Monday, November 4th, 2019

The Setting Stone Coffee House is this Friday! Tickets are on sale now for only $3 and are available in room 320. Tickets go up to $5 at the door. This Coffee House is shaping up to be one of the best ever, including live, on-site t-shirt printing, a special, immersive poetic performance from Mr. Aerni’s Creative Writing class, and performances from Nosebleed, Master Chef, Emma Schrimper, Andrew Averbach, Quinn Kissell, Scout Tincher, and many more!

There is a mandatory meeting today, right after school in Mr. Aerni’s room (320) for anyone who signed up to perform at this Friday’s Coffee House. If you can’t attend, you must see Mr Aerni BEFORE today’s meeting!

The Talawanda Marching Band had a great final weekend of their season. First they were at the football game on Friday. The band would like to thank the football team, cheerleaders, and student section for a fantastic season.  We were all successful and all had a great time. On Saturday the band traveled to West Clermont High School where they competed in the cold weather.  The band had their best performance of the year.  A special shout out goes to the percussion section.  After a lot of hard work, and a series of respectable second place finishes, they won best percussion in their class.  Great job! In other music department news this Wednesday the bands will hold their annual chili supper,  The event features a chili supper and performances by the Talawanda Jazz Band, the Talawanda Steel Band and the Miami University Steel Band Too.  Donations are welcome and the performances are free.  We hope to see you there.

The football team fell to Ross on senior night Friday 34-21, they end their season with a historic 7-3 record and 3-3 conference records the new era has started off really well for the Brave so on behalf of the school congrats to the football team on a fantastic season.

And on Saturday sophomore Kiefer Bell finished 43rd at the State cross country meet in Hebron congrats to him on a great season, some of the cross country athletes will be continuing their season in a few weeks as they will head to Nike Cross Regionals in Terre Haute, Indiana to face some of the best competition in the Midwest.

And anyone who is interested in playing basketball for the Brave this year the tryout schedule will be today, 9th graders from 2:45 to 4:45 and 10-12th from 4-6, and tomorrow everyone will tryout from 9-11:30 am football players will tryout the next Wednesday and Thursday after their season is over, all players must have a physical on file and their Final Forms filled out, sign ups will be in the athletic office.

The freshmen football team defeated the Ross Rams two nights ago to a score of 12-0. DJ Morris-Williams connected with Conner Brosey on play action pass for the first Brave touchdown and Dom Dowers punched in the second TD, on an off-tackle run. Hayden Marcum led the Brave defensive attack, with an interception hat trick and he finishes with 9 picks on the year. The Brave defense pitched a shutout to seal the deal. The freshmen finish out 2nd in the SWOC, with winning record, and only two loses the entire year. Great Job Frosh.

Home games for today: Football team hosts Ross at 7, tailgate will begin at 5:30, it is a neon out and also senior night as the football team looks to improve to 8-2 on the year.

Finally we would like to wish our luck to Kiefer Bell as he headed to Hebron today to preview the course for the state championship cross country meet tomorrow, he will race at 3 o’clock and is hoping to cap off an amazing state tournament good luck to Kiefer tomorrow.

Congrats to the Seniors for 3 peating powderpuff last night the Freshman class also showed some promise finishing in second place, thanks to everyone who came out and it should be an exciting tournament next year.

As many of you know Sophomore Kiefer Bell reached the State meet for Cross Country to continue a very successful season his all region 9th place performance qualified him individually to the state meet in Hebron Ohio on National Trail Raceway on Saturday, I sat down with Kiefer yesterday to discuss his season, and his goals for upcoming races.

On Wednesday morning one of our fellow students, Michael Schwab, was one of the first on the scene out at the wreck on 732. Michael helped and freed a man from his van aswell. All of this and getting to class on time, thanks Michael!

The football team defeated Northwest on Friday night by a 42-12 score Deondre Bothast-Revalee and Terrell Wills each had 2 touchdowns and Dalton Norris had a hashtag scoop and score in the dominating win for the Brave they are now 7-2 on the year and close out their regular season this Friday at home versus Ross.

Congratulations to Kiefer Bell for qualifying to the State Cross Country Meet!  The meet will be held on Saturday at 3:00 on the National Trail Raceway course in Hebron, Ohio.  Kiefer finished in 9th place in the windy and muddy conditions.  The boys team ran well to beat their seeded position.  With five underclassmen out of the 7 runners, they hope to return next season.  The girls team had their highest finish at a Regional Meet since 1988.  The team improved by 5 places from last year to finish in 6th place out of 17 teams.  The girls finished the season as the 8th ranked team in the State of Ohio.  Good luck to Kiefer on Saturday.

George Springer and the Houston Astros look to bounce back tonight after going down 2-0 in the World Series against the Nationals, that game is tonight at 8.

The football team battles Northwest tonight that game is at 7 and it is a Logan Keebler out, if you don’t have a shirt for Logan, make sure to wear green or navy blue.
