Good morning Talawanda, today is Friday, September 17th, 2021.

The homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, September 25th from 7 to 10pm outside at the stadium. Students and all in attendance will be required to wear masks. Students may bring one outside guest in at least grade 9 and under the age of 21. If a student brings an outside guest, they must fill out a permission slip and TURN it in to purchase a guest ticket. Guest forms can be picked up in the main office. Tickets will be $10 per person. To purchase a ticket, students should scan the QR codes on the hallway signs or visit talawandaathletics.org. Students must enter their student ID numbers to purchase an individual ticket. For outside guests, permission slips must be turned in to receive a ticket code for purchase.

The boys golf team fell to Badin last night, the team will host National Trail on Monday.

The boys soccer team knocked off Northwest on the road 2-1, Landon Nates put in the game winner for the Brave. The boys are now 4-0 to start off in SWOC play but have a big matchup next Wednesday as they will take on the other undefeated team in the SWOC in the Ross Rams.

The volleyball team picked up a big victory on the road last night as they defeated Ross in 5 sets, the girls are now 3-1 in the SWOC and will take on Taylor on Monday.

The girls tennis team dominated Taylor for a 5-0 shutout victory last night their next match will be on Monday as they will host Middletown Madison.

And finally the girls soccer team picked up their first win of the year last night in a dominant conference win over Northwest, 7-0 was the final, the girls are now 1-4-1 on the season and will travel to Ross on Tuesday.

Only one home game this weekend: the field hockey teams will host Lancaster tomorrow at 12:30, there is some road action to look forward to though as the football team will take on Dayton Carroll tonight at 7 with hopes of picking up their first win of the season, it is a frat out if you’re heading up to show your support.

The girls tennis team edged Lebanon 3-2 last night for a huge win on the road they improve their record to 8-6 on the season and play at Taylor tonight.

The girls golf team’s match with Ross was postponed last night to a later date.

Home games for today: the boys golf team hosts Badin at 4, and the girls soccer team plays Northwest JV at 5, Varisty at 7 live on Channel 85.

Talawanda High School has partnered with Torch Prep, an innovative test prep program, to offer our students a free practice ACT test.  This test will be given on November 6 from 8AM- 12PM at THS. Please go here to register.  Cost is $7.

The boys soccer team beat Mount Healthy 8-0 on the road, a goal was recorded by pretty much everyone on the team. The boys are now 3-0 to start conference play and will head to Northwest tomorrow.

The boys golf team placed second at their SWOC match at Glenview last night, just barely being edged by Harrison for the title by 2 strokes, the boys have a big match coming up tomorrow at home as they will face Badin.

The tennis team defeated Edgewood yesterday in a dominant 5-0 win to improve to 7-6 on the season and 2-1 in the SWOC, the next match for the girls will be today at Lebanon.

The cross country teams sent partial squads to the Hamilton Invitational yesterday with both teams coming away with first place trophies. For the girls, Bella Walter was the top scorer coming in third and for the boys Bryson Fears won the race, he was also followed up by 6 other Talawanda runners who completed the sweep, both cross country teams will head to Eaton this weekend.

Good morning Talawanda, today is Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

Talawanda Tribune meets immediately after school until 3:30 today in Room 417.

If you want pencils, we can now help you with that! There is a pencil and paper dispenser up and running again so if you ever need those materials, you know where to come. All you need is 2 quarters and then you put both of them into the coin slots and push in the metal lever.  If you want paper, all you need is 3 quarters and put them into the coin slots on the right side of the dispenser. Then you push in the metal lever and pull it back out and grab your notebook of paper.

The boys golf team picked up a non-conference win over Colerain last night 163-172, they will be back in action today at 4 as they will head to Glenview for SWOC match #5.

The girls golf team defeated Eaton last night, heading into the home stretch of their season the girls will get a day off today before squaring off with Ross tomorrow.

Home games for today: the volleyball team will host Northwest JV at 5:45 and varsity at 7.

September 13th, 2021

Good morning Talawanda, today is Monday, September 13th, 2021.

All class officers and student body president need to meet in room 319 today after school. The meeting will start at 2:55 and will last approximately 15 minutes. Attendance is expected. 

Starting today the Butler Tech and THS FCCLA chapter is sponsoring a homecoming door decorating contest, each classroom, office, and cafeteria door is eligible.  We want everyone to show their school spirit. This week will be time to decorate with all doors done by Friday and special guest judges will be judging after school.  There will be 2 winners and they will win a pizza party!  This will be done with your 5th period class!

Attention Juniors/Seniors with a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher: Please check your email from Ms. Alfonsi to access the application for National Honor Society.  Applications are due this Thursday, September 16 by 3:00 p.m.

The girls soccer team fell to Hamilton at home on Saturday by a 2-1 score, the girls fall to 0-4-1 on the year and will host Northwest on Thursday, that game will also be carried on Channel 85.

The field hockey team fell to Olentangy Berlin at home on Saturday, but a big chance to rebound comes tonight as the girls will host Indian Hill for their senior night at 6:30 live on Channel 85.

The cross country teams headed up to Seneca East to compete at the Stars, Stripes, and Lights invitational on Saturday night, the boys finished 4th and the girls were 7th. Leading the way for the ladies was Hannah Lippincott who finished 4th and for the boys Kiefer Bell won the race in his season opener breaking his own school record in a blazing fast time of 15 minutes 22 seconds over 5000 meters, both cross country teams will send partial squads to Hamilton tomorrow.

The volleyball team swept Princeton on Saturday, their record now stands at 4-4, they will go on the road at Franklin tonight at 6:30.

Home games for today: the boys golf team will host Colerain at 4 and the field hockey team will host Indian Hill, JV at 5, varsity at 6:30, it is also senior night so make sure to come out and support or tune into the stream live here on Channel 85.

The volleyball team picked up a 3 set win over Mount Healthy last night to improve their record to 3-4 on the year and 1-1 in the SWOC, their next match is set for tomorrow at Princeton.

The boys soccer team knocked off Edgewood last night, fueled by a fast start Landon Nates had a hat trick and Logan Kent added another in the first half, the boys were able to hold on in the final frame for a 4-2 victory. The boys are now 2-2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference with their next game schedule for Tuesday at Mount Healthy.

The girls golf team tied Goshen last night 217-217, they will head to Eaton Country Club to battle the Eagles and Waynesville on Monday.

The girls tennis team fell to Ross last night by a 4-1 score, they fall to 1-1 in the conference and 5-6 overall, they will head to Hamilton to face the Big Blue on Monday.

Also there was a miscommunication a few days ago regarding the football team, their game today is still cancelled but next week’s matchup with Dayton Carroll will not be at home, the team will go on the road next Friday.

Home games for this weekend: the girls soccer team will host Hamilton tomorrow at noon and the field hockey team will battle Olentangy Berlin tomorrow at 4.

The girls tennis team squeaked out a victory over Colerain last night 3-2 was the match final, the girls are now 5-5 on the year and will have their second conference matchup of the season tonight at home versus Ross.

The girls golf team defeated Edgewood last night at home, they are now 3-7 on the season and 3-3 in conference, they will head to Eagle’s Nest tonight to battle Goshen.

The boys golf team placed second at their SWOC match last night of the 4 teams competing, they will get the rest of the week off and will host Colerain on Monday.

The field hockey team fell to St. Ursula academy on the road last night, they will play this Saturday at home as they host the Bears of Olentangy Berlin.

Home games for today: the girls tennis team will host Ross at 4, the volleyball teams will host Mount Healthy, JV at 5:45 and varsity at 7, and the soccer teams will host Edgewood, JV at 5 and Varsity at 7 and we will carry that game live here on Channel 85.

The JV tennis team defeated Monroe last night by a 4-1 score, they improve to 3-7 on the season and are back in action tonight at home versus Colerain.

The Varsity team edged Monroe 3-2 last night they now stand at 4-5 and will head to Colerain tonight.

The volleyball team defeated Middletown Madison last night in 4 sets, after dropping set 1, the Brave stormed back for the victory, the girls are now 2-4 on the season and will head to Mount Healthy tomorrow.

Bishop Fenwick was scared last night and didn’t show for the boys golf match, but they will be right back in action today in a SWOC match at Miami Whitewater.

The football team’s game this Friday versus New Richmond has unfortunately been cancelled due to Covid issues, as of right now, the team is set to add a home game though as next week’s matchup versus Dayton Carroll has been moved here, we will keep you updated as that situation progresses.

Welcome back THS, let’s jump into the scores from the long weekend.

The football team fell to Eaton on Friday night in their home opener 27-17, Deondre Bothast-Revalee had 2 touchdowns and Zada Young added a field goal in the losing effort, the Brave fall to 0-3 on the season and will host New Richmond on Friday.

The boys soccer team defeated Harrison on Thursday night, Jacob Friedline lifted the boys to victory with a free kick strike in the final seconds, 1-0 was the final, the boys pick up their first win of the season and will host Edgewood on Thursday, that game will also be livestreamed on Channel 85.

The girls tennis team defeated Northwest 4-1 on Thursday in their first conference math of the year, they improve to 3-5 on the year and will start a 2 match non-conference set tonight at Monroe.

The cross country teams competed at the Miamisburg invitational on Saturday, the girls came away with a 5th place finish and the boys were 3rd, Hannah Lippincott led the way for the girls coming in 3rd and Logan Murray paced the boys with a 9th place finish, both cross country teams will head to Seneca East to compete at the Stars, Stripes, and Lights invitational on Saturday.
