Good morning Talawanda, today is Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.

Any sophomore or junior that is interested in taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13th should sign up in the Guidance Office with Mrs. Roy.  The cost is $20 and please have your payment ready when you sign up.

Students staying to lift weights from 4-5pm on Wednesday, September 8 need to report to Coach Lykins’s on Wednesday afternoon.

Did you know that Channel 85 isn’t the only source for Talawanda news? The Talawanda Tribune is THS’s online newspaper covering stories of interest to the Talawanda community. The Tribune needs writers, researchers, photographers, tech savvy individuals, and graphic designers to join our team. If you are interested, please come to a 30 minute informational meeting this Tuesday immediately after school in room 417 or email talawandatribune@talawanda.org.

This Thursday at 3:00, Project Green will be holding an outdoor meeting.

Come join the THS Youth Initiative team. Our first meeting is tomorrow, September 8th, after school in the cafeteria.

Best Buddies will host their first meeting on Friday, September 10 immediately after school in Room 316. Join us for friendship, fun, food, and inclusion. We will start inside, but move outside for popsicles. We would love to have lots of new members, especially freshmen and sophomores. See Mrs. Sammons with any questions! 

Attention current NHS seniors:  We’ll have a meeting this Thursday, September 9, after school in the cafeteria.  Remember, you must wear your mask!  Please check your email for an invitation to join the NHS Google Classroom and please read the message there if you are unable to attend Thursday’s meeting.

Welcome back THS, let’s jump into the scores from the long weekend.

The football team fell to Eaton on Friday night in their home opener 27-17, Deondre Bothast-Revalee had 2 touchdowns and Zada Young added a field goal in the losing effort, the Brave fall to 0-3 on the season and will host New Richmond on Friday.

The boys soccer team defeated Harrison on Thursday night, Jacob Friedline lifted the boys to victory with a free kick strike in the final seconds, 1-0 was the final, the boys pick up their first win of the season and will host Edgewood on Thursday, that game will also be livestreamed on Channel 85.

The girls tennis team defeated Northwest 4-1 on Thursday in their first conference math of the year, they improve to 3-5 on the year and will start a 2 match non-conference set tonight at Monroe.

The cross country teams competed at the Miamisburg invitational on Saturday, the girls came away with a 5th place finish and the boys were 3rd, Hannah Lippincott led the way for the girls coming in 3rd and Logan Murray paced the boys with a 9th place finish, both cross country teams will head to Seneca East to compete at the Stars, Stripes, and Lights invitational on Saturday.
