ALEXA: | Today is TUESDAY, APRIL 9th. I’m ALEXA |
SIENNA: | and I’m SIENNA. Here’s what’s happening around THS: |
ALEXA: | Diversity Club needs your help on April 12th to commemorate the struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community. |
SIENNA: | The Diversity club is calling for a “Day of Silence” on April 12th in solidarity with other national groups of GLSEN(Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) |
ALEXA: | The mission of G.L.S.E.N “is to ensure that every member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression.” |
SIENNA: | Start your day off by getting a sticker as you enter the building on the 12th to show that you are participating in The Day of Silence. |
ALEXA: | You can help by remaining silent on the 12th, writing letters to the school/government officials explaining what it is like to be in the LGBTQ+ Community or an ally. |
SIENNA: | You can wear pride related fashion or even draw pictures representing your pride. |
ALEXA: | There will also be a silent sit-in meeting in the academic rotunda after school on the 12th. |
SIENNA: | Join Diversity Club and members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as those that support them, to help the THS community become more inclusive and accepting! |
ALEXA: | Hey Sienna, do you still have your eclipse glasses from Monday’s total eclipse? |
SIENNA: | Yes Lex, I do. |
ALEXA: | Well, THS, along with Moon-Co-Op, is collecting the glasses to be recycled and sent to South America for their eclipse on October 2nd. You can turn in glasses to the box in the main office or the box outside Room 316! |
SIENNA: | Thank you for that information. Also all chess members, there will be no chess club this week. |
ALEXA: | Another fun announcement is that Eddie Tanner (who is firefighting), Jacob Butler (who is Welding), and Anna Claire (doing First Aid), are competing at SkillsUSA Ohio today in Columbus. There might also be other THS and/or Butler Tech students, but I know of these three for sure! |
SIENNA: | EOC testing is right around the corner! |
ALEXA: | ELA testing will be on April 16th and 17th |
SIENNA: | Math will be on April 23rd and 24th |
ALEXA: | Science will be on April 30th |
SIENNA: | And finally, Social Studies will be on May 1st |
ALEXA: | All right. In other news–the NHS volleyball tournament is coming up soon. |

ADDI: | Welcome back Talawanda. We have some games and matches to talk about from the long weekend so let’s get right into that.
On friday, baseball took on Mt. Healthy overcoming them 25-0, AJ Hainline pitching a no hitter. Boys tennis had their first match of the season against lebanon, beating them 4-1. Wins were posted by Milo Flaspohler, Ryan Hohn, Connor Pulaski, Andy Page, Julian Danoff, and Davis Thomas. Finally, Softball took on ursuline, overcoming them 10-0. Kylie Cobb pitching a no hitter along with some impressive hits from the whole team. As for Saturday, softball had a double header recording two more wins on the season. Starting the day with St. Ursula, beating them 16-6, then moving on to Lakota East overcoming them 7-3. Sounds like a great weekend for our softball players Baseball took on Lakota West falling to them 11-2. They hope to redeem themselves tonight as they take on Harrison in an important conference matchup. Varsity will be right here at home while JV will be away at Harrison, both games are to begin at 5. Sounds like a rough night for the wildcats as our softball team will also be taking on Harrison here at THS. That game will be at 5 as well. Tennis will also take on a conference matchup tonight as they hit the road heading over to Northwest their match will be at 4:30. Finally our track team will be heading over to Eaton for the Eaton relays meet. Both field and running events will begin to take place at 4:30.
