Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Monday, February 11th, 2019

This is National Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) week! Did you know that there are over 5,300 chapters in the nation and over 164,000 members nationwide. The THS chapter has over 135 members. Please wear red tomorrow to help celebrate FCCLA week.

Setting Stone will meet for a brief meeting today, after school, in Mr. Aerni’s room.

The school counseling staff will be offering an informational CCP meeting tomorrow at 5:30 pm in the PAC. This meeting will provide an overview of the program, how to apply and the deadlines. Representatives from local universities will be in attendance to provide college-specific information.

The FCCLA Chapter is selling Valograms for $4 to benefit service projects in the community, the items can be purchased at lunch and will be delivered on February 14th during 5th period

Prom season is just around the corner, Cinderella’s Closet provides formal wear to high school girls who need assistance in getting ready to attend their junior or senior prom. If you are interested in free prom wear, please see Ashley Workman or your school counselor in the guidance office.

The THS Key Club will be selling roses at lunch starting tomorrow for $2 a piece. Optional note cards will be available for anyone wanting to attach a message to their rose. Get one while you can because this is a limited time offer, we only have 100 available. The money will be going to a local charity.

Juniors who would like to be on Prom Steering Committee need to pick up an application outside Ms. Mann’s room, 319.

This is the final week to sign up for the February 22nd Setting Stone Coffee House. Sign up on the sheet posted outside of Mr. Aerni’s room 320. Anyone signed up to perform should plan on attending a brief, mandatory meeting on Tuesday, February 19th.

Attention all seniors, your senior pictures are due to Mr. Zimmerman by March 1st.  If you still haven’t bought a yearbook, please go to jostens.com to order yours today.

And now here is a look at the week ahead

And now for Patty G

That was the scene in the gym Saturday after the girl’s basketball team pulled out a 1 point win over Ross on Senior Day by a 51-50 tally. Jazz Bennett was the points leader for Talawanda with 16 and Sophie Pohlabel had 15.  Seniors Jenna Tegge and Maria Richter also played great games. Talawanda will play Lakota West in the tournament on Wednesday at Lakota East High School — tickets for that game are on sale now in the athletic office.

The hockey team played in their league tournament this weekend and came short of a win in the championship game. Saturday, the Brave beat Centerville by a 6-4 score, and yesterday, Talawanda fell to St. X by a 6-3 tally in the championship despite two goals from Josh Shrader and one from Grady Holmes. Talawanda finishes 2nd in the league, and they will begin district tournament play this Friday against Thomas-Worthington at the Dublin Chiller.

And a quick note about tonight’s events — the wrestling senior night that was supposed to take place in the gym was canceled for this evening— but the bowling team’s senior night will take place at Oxford Lanes this afternoon when they take on Middletown at 4.

And that’s our broadcast on this Monday. I’m Patrick Geshan. Thanks so much for watching and have a great day.
