This event is for seniors and their families (or juniors and their families wanting to get a preview of the local scholarship process) who are interested in a review of the THS Local and OCF Scholarship Booklets. There will be a brief overview of the current scholarships available and the application criteria followed by a work session for anyone needing assistance completing their scholarship applications. The THS School Counselors will be on hand to answer questions about the process and requirements. Every year, we have multiple scholarships that remain unapplied for even though we believe that a number of our seniors fit the eligibility criteria. We hope that this event will connect every senior student considering post-secondary schooling (2 or 4 year) with all of the potential scholarship opportunities they should be considering.

And now for What’s the T and Luke WP.

The boys basketball team fell to Ross by a score fo 65-62 in triple overtime, Dale Yauger had 26 points for the Brave.  Their regular season is over, they finish with a record of 6-16 and they will play against Princeton in the first round of the playoffs at Hamilton high school, this Friday at 7:30.

The girls basketball team fell in their postseason matchup to Loveland 62-24, Kylee Fears had 10 points in the game, they finish with a season record of 9-14, and congrats to them on a great season.

This past Saturday the swim teams took part in the district swim meets where they were looking to qualify to this week’s state championships.  Though nearly every race resulted in a season best swim the team fell just short of qualifying anyone to the state meet.  The boys 200 Free Relay of Ben Crowder, Blake Madden, Rhyan Meyers, and John Anzano finished in 7th place at the district meet, which ranked them 26th in the state but unfortunately only 24 relay teams make the state championship.  Ben Crowder also nearly qualified in the 100 Free as he swam a time that was the second fastest in school history, but it left him just .27 seconds off qualifying for the state meet.  On the girls side Mercy Patterson had a nice meet as she posted two season best times in the 100 Fly and 100 Back, which allowed her to finish 11th and 17th in the district, respectively.  Overall, of the 44 boys teams in the district the boys team finished in 12th place and of the 50 girls teams in the district the girls team finished in 22nd place.  So at this point just Sam Hool remains in action for the swim and dive teams.  He will be competing at the state diving championships this upcoming Saturday in Canton, OH.  Congratulations to all swim and dive team members on another excellent season and good luck to Sam this weekend!

The hockey team got back to their winning ways this weekend at the SWOHSHL tournament this weekend with 3 wins, first over Elder by a 7-0 score, next over Sycamore by an 8-0 score and finally in the championship 8-1 over Beavercreek, they capture their first conference title since 2009 and finish 12-0 in the conference. They will head to Columbus on Friday to face Springboro in the first round of the state tournament.

Home Games for this weekend: none.

That’s our broadcast on this day I’m bad at hockey, thanks so much for watching, and have a great day.

14.  That is now the number of consecutive league championships that both the girls and boys swim and dive teams have won.  Saturday night at the Miami Rec Center the boys easily outdistanced Little Miami by 140 points to capture the SWOC title.  On the girls side, the much hyped Ross team felt short in their quest to upset Talawanda as the girls beat them out by 61 points, after only being seeded first by a mere 9 points.  Both Ben Crowder and Maren Patterson were named SWOC Athletes of the Year in Swimming and Diving as they both won two individual events and also both swam on two relays that finished in first.  For the boys Blake Madden also won two events and John Anzano and Sam Hool each won one.  On the girls side additional first place finishes were picked up by both Addie Lehman and Mercy Patterson.  A number of league records were also set at the meet Saturday night.  The girls 200 Medley Relay team of Mercy Patterson, Maren Patterson, Kenna Mondello, and Mary Kate Huddleston broke the league record, while the girls 200 Free Relay team of Mercy, Maren, Kenna, and Hannah Lippincott also broke the league record.  Individually Addie Lehman broke the girls diving league record, Sam Hool smashed his own league record in diving, and Maren Patterson broke the league record in the 100 Free.  The swim and dive teams will now begin their state tournament run with the Sectional meets this week.  Diving will be during the week at Miami and swimming will be over the weekend at St. Xavier.  Congratulations to ALL members of the swim and dive team for keeping the dynasty that is Talawanda Swimming and Diving alive.

On Saturday, the girls basketball team defeated Mt. Healthy 49-46, making their record 4-6.

The boys basketball team beat Mt. Healthy in triple overtime with the score being 70-69. On saturday, they played Franklin Country, and lost 68-50. Their record is now  5-12.
