Wrestling tryouts will be 3-4:30 after school everyday this week.

The boys placed 9th at the cross country race this past weekend and Congratulations to Kiefer Bell and Hannah Lippincott who qualified for state.

Good morning Talawanda, today is Friday, October 29th, 2021.

November Baseball Calendar Revision: Morning hitting will be delayed for a bit—the indoor batting cage needs to be repaired. Until that time, beginning next week, we will lift Tuesday and Thursday 4-5 pm and Saturday 9-10AM. Hope to get back in the cage by November 10th!! The November 5th Setting Stone Coffee House has been canceled due to low performer sign-ups. The next scheduled Coffee House will be held on Friday, February 25th–we hope to see you then! Good luck to the Talawanda Butler Tech FFA Equine team as they travel to Oklahoma this week to compete in the National Arabian Horse Judging Contest and safe travels to all FFA members traveling to Indianapolis for National Convention this week. Go aggies!

Hello everyone, I’m back and with fall sports coming to a close, we figured it was time for a competition of our own.

The Channel 85 Pumpkin seeking competition is making its return this year beginning tomorrow, 3 mini pumpkins will be hidden, with 2 inside the school and 1 bonus pumpkin outside on the property, finding one of the 2 indoor pumpkins will win you a bag of Halloween candy and finding the outside pumpkin will earn you a guest spot on the news here at Channel 85. Good luck!

This week at Channel 85 we decided to tell spooky stories from around the school, our first segment is Night of the Living Duck.

Now for Whats the T followed by sports with not Luke WP.

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams for qualifying for the regional meets next Saturday at Troy.  Kiefer Bell won the entire district meet with a time of 15:20, which breaks his own school record.  Hannah Lippincott got eighth in her race with a 19:01, and Logan Murray finished 9th in his with a 16:11.  Lucia Rodbro also would have qualified individually over the weekend.  Best of luck to both teams next weekend in Troy!

The boys soccer team lost on Saturday to the number 2 team in the state Mason by a score of 3-0.  They finish the season at 10-5-1, good enough for second place in the SWOC.  Congrats on a great season boys.

The varsity football team picked up a win on Friday by a score of 30 to 6 over Northwest.  Deondre Bothast-Revalee tallied 376 yards rushing to bring him over 1000 yards for the season.  Da’quan Roberson also scored his first ever touchdown, and DJ Morris Williams added another to close out the scoring for the Brave.  This brings them to 2-7 on the season and officially knocks Northwest out the playoffs.  Great job varsity football.

The volleyball team’s season came to a close last night in a 3 set loss against Oak Hills, the girls finish with a record of 15-8 on the season, good enough for second place in the SWOC.

The girls soccer team fell to Mason 6-0 in their second round playoff matchup last night, the girls will finish this season with a record of 6-9-2 overall.

The field hockey team’s season was ended last night in the first round of the playoffs against Indian Hill.

Home games this weekend: the football team hosts their final game of the season against Northwest, there is a tailgate beginning at 5:30, with the game beginning at 7, it will also be broadcast live on Waycross Media, also good luck to the boys soccer team who will take on Mason tomorrow in second round playoff action and good luck to the cross country teams who will head to Cedarville University to compete at the district meet.

This Friday after school, Talawandas new chapter of FCA will have a brief informational meeting on the fieldhouse breezeway. FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is a group of athletes and coaches around the country that focuses on “engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ. You don’t need to be an athlete to attened. Anyone is welcome, and donuts will be provided. If you have questions, contact Dean Cradduck, Harrison Cradduck, or Jacob Farmer.

Last night the annual powderpuff event made its return to THS Rose Bothast-Revalee led the sophomores to the championship game but it wasn’t enough to defeated tournament MVP Taylor Farris and the junior class who took home the title.

Home games: none, but good luck to the volleyball team who begins their state tournament run today with a first round match against Oak Hills, it will be a 5:30 start in Liberty Township at Lakota East High School tonight.

Parker and the boys finally simulated their season based on their Madden ratings. With Ole Ball Coach at the helm, they went through an entire season as the Jets and filed this report.

Powderpuff will start at 7pm, the T-Shirts will be handed out from 6 to 7. Anyone who wants to come out and watch, admission is free, see Mr. Zimmerman in room 301 with any questions.

The boys soccer team defeated West Clermont yesterday 2-0, Zeke Nates cashed in the game winner in the third minute to lift the Brave into the second round, the boys are set to play #1 seeded Mason on Saturday.

Also congrats to senior Mercy Patterson who over the weekend announced her commitment to swim at the division 1 level at Miami University.

Home games: the annual powderpuff event will take place tonight on the field, shirts will be handed out at 6 with the games beginning at 7.

Now for some Playoff Soccer hype

If you are missing anything, please take a look for it in the THS lost and found.

Are you interested in competing for the Talawanda Swim and Dive Team this year?  If so, please plan to attend the preseason meeting today.  The meeting will be at 7 PM here in the cafeteria.  At the meeting you will be able to meet the coaches, obtain practice and meet schedules, and learn what the expectations are to be a part of the team.  If you can’t make the meeting please see Coach Pasquale in Room 418.

The football team lost to Mount Healthy on Friday 28-6, the team is now 1-7 on the year, and will close out their season this Friday at home against Northwest.

The girls soccer team tied Princeton on Saturday 3-3 to close out their regular season and then kept it alive defeating Middletown last night in first round playoff action 4-1, the team now moves on to the second round where they will face Mason on Thursday on the road.

The cross country teams swept the trophies at the SWOC championships on Saturday, for the girls the team came away with the title, Hannah Lippincott won as an individual and picked up her third straight runner of the year honor, also Coach Paul Stiver was coach of the year once again, for the boys, the team also came away with a first place finish, Kiefer Bell won the race and was runner of the year, and Coach Stiver was named coach of the year, both cross country teams will head to Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon to run at the district meet.

Home games: the boys soccer team will host West Clermont in first round playoff action tonight at 7, it is a black out if you’re heading to the Wilhelm athletic complex tonight and it will also be streamed live right here on Channel 85.
