Good morning Talawanda, today is Tuesday, December 7th, 2021.

There will not be an FCA meeting this Wednesday, December 8th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jacob Farmer, Harrison Cradduck, or Dean Cradduck.

Diversity Club will be having a holiday party after school on Friday, December 10th in room 221 from 3:00 until 4:15. All teachers and staff are invited to celebrate, have snacks, and create winter-themed crafts with us!  

The hallways have been boring in between periods, Dawson decided to spice it up with some mini sticks.

Need help preparing for your exams? Talawanda Hope is partnering with NHS to host two after school study sessions with tutors and teachers available to help you review for your exams. This is a great opportunity to help you feel more confident about your study materials. Sessions are right after school today and Thursday from 3-4pm. Todays session will be held in the freshman hallway, and the Thursday session will be in the media center. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided!

A big win for the girls basketball team last night as they knocked off Valley View 60-19, Taylor Farris led the team with 18 points, including a 4-5 performance from beyond the arc and 7 assists, the team is still undefeated at 5-0 and will head to Edgewood tomorrow.

Tonights Boys basketball game at Edgewood has been moved to Friday, December 17th, the boys next game will be Friday at home against Harrison.

December 6th, 2021

Good morning Talawanda, today is Monday, December 6th, 2021.

IT is the the FINAL FOUR DAYS to turn in new, unopened boxes of cereal for the Best Buddies and Key Club food drive. We have around 300 boxes of cereal collected and would love to reach our goal of 500 boxes! Any student who donates between now and Thursday will be entered into a raffle to win a $15 Cane’s gift card. If we reach our goal, a second Cane’s card winner will be announced! Congratulations to last Friday’s winners! Ellie Reynolds is the winner of a $10 SoHi gift card and Maxon Owens is the winner of a $10 Dunkin Donuts gift card!

The boys basketball team crushed Valley View on Saturday 93-69, the team had 4 scorers with 14 or more points led by Logan Smith with 18, congrats to Coach Davie on his first win as head coach and good luck to the team tomorrow as they will open up conference play at Edgewood.

The hockey team tied Beavercreek yesterday 2-2, the team is now 1-0-1 in league play and will have a road game at Moeller this weekend.

The Wrestling team opened up their year on Saturday at Dayton Christian, first place finishers for the Brave included Logan Crauder, Sammy Dillon and Shae Dillingham, the team will head to Trenton on Friday for the Edgewood invite.

The Ac Chal team had a successful tournament at the Northmont Rowdy Raider.  The JV team led by Tesh Bali won the title in their division.   The varsity, despite not knowing the capital of Texas had a strong showing competing against some of the best teams in Ohio.   Congratulations to Michalle Miao for becoming Talawanda’s all time leading scorer in Ac Chal.

Good morning Talawanda, today is Friday, December 3rd, 2021.

Thank you to all of those individuals who donated blood today in FCCLA’s blood drive.  You have saved some lives today, and the blood center appreciates you.

Best Buddies and Key Club are collecting new, unopened boxes of cereal now through December 9th for the Oxford Food Pantry. If you bring in cereal this week, we will have drawings next week for the gift cards. 

Congratulations to the FFA parliamentary procedure team who finished first in the district last night.  Next up is the state competition in Columbus on December 17th.  Best of luck Aggies!

The bowling teams were defeated by Northwest on the road last night, the boys by a score of 2176-1687, and the girls by a score of 1648-1053, both bowling teams will have an away match at Ross next Thursday. 

Also yesterday I said the girls basketball team will host Badin tomorrow, that game has been rescheduled to January 27th, the girls next game will be Monday at home against Valley View.

Home games: the boys basketball team will host Valley view tomorrow Freshman at 4:30, JV at 6 and Varsity at 7:30, also the hockey team will play Beavercreek at Goggin Sunday at 1, and good luck to the wrestling teams who will open their season at Dayton Christian tomorrow.

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback about ‘Tyler Spells’ from students and teachers.  How does Tyler make it this far in high school?  Is he even literate?  Does he know how to spell his own name?  But most importantly, is there anyone else who spells as bad as him?  And now for a heated battle between Anna and Tyler to answer that question…

The boys basketball team fell on the road in their season opener against Anderson 64-49, team leader in points for the Brave was Jay Reynolds with 20, the team will open their home season against Valley View on Saturday.

The Bowling teams opened their seasons yesterday at the Oxford Lanes against Middletown, the girls fell by a score of 2089-1588 and the boys dropped the match 2531-2032, both teams will head to Northwest Lanes for conference match #1 tomorrow.

Home games: The girls basketball team will host Harrison, JV at 6, Varsity at 7:30, make sure to pack the gym tonight or tune in live here on Channel 85.

If you traveled to Hamilton last night you witnessed a massacre as the girls basketball team defeated the Big Blue by a 66-21 score, Kylee Fears led the team with 20 points, followed by Halee McDade with 16 and Myah Keene with 15, the girls are now 3-0 and will host conference game #1 tomorrow against Harrison.

Home games: The bowling teams will host Middletown at 4, also good luck to the boys basketball team who will head to Anderson tonight to open their season at 7:30.

Welcome back THS, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, let’s jump into the scores from the long weekend.

The hockey team went 1-3 at the DiPaolo tournament this weekend with a win over Amherst and losses against Miami and Gilmour Academy, the team is now 4-8 on the year and will have a single set this weekend at home against Beavercreek.

We’ll have to wait just a bit longer for boys basketball season to begin as their opener against Preble Shawnee on Saturday was postponed until February 1st, the will now open their year at Anderson tomorrow.

Home games: None, but good luck to the girls basketball team who will have a big matchup against Hamilton tonight on the road at 7:30.

The girls basketball team defeated county foe Monroe to begin their season on Friday 46-23, Kylee Fears led the team with 18 points, and Taylor Farris tacked on 6 assists, the team will look to keep rolling tonight against Franklin County tonight, more on that in a second.

Congratulations to Hannah Lippincott, Mercy Patterson, Alex Carlson, and Zeke Groom on being named captains of the swim and dive team.  The boys team will be looking to win their 16th straight league title this year, while the girls team will be looking to get back to their championship ways after narrowly losing the SWOC meet last year.  The season for the Brave Swim & Dive team begins on December 14th with a tri-meet against Wilmington and Clinton-Massie.

The hockey team defeated Troy in their first SWOHSHL game of the season on Saturday, Parker Geshan was just off the school record with 5 goals, he also had 2 assists in that game, the hockey team will host the annual DiPaolo tournament this weekend beginning with a matchup against Gilmour Academy on Friday afternoon.

Home games: the girls basketball team will host Franklin County, JV at 6, Varsity at 7:30, it is a pajama out if you’re heading to the gym to support the girls tonight, also as mentioned the hockey team will host the DiPaolo tournament with 4 games this weekend.
