Thanks guys, Since it’s fake friday i’m gonna cover everything we got coming up for the long weekend. But let’s start with last night.

Girls Golf took on Little Miami falling to them 214-194 Emerson Endress shot her personal best of 52

Tonight, our tennis team will be on the road to LaSalle

Boys Soccer and Volleyball will both face Mt. Healthy at Home 7pm

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Cross country will have a meet at Miami University

And our football team will face eaton 7pm at Eaton

And it’s all quiet on the sports front until we come back on tuesday. Have a wonderful long weekend talawanda. And next up here is Sienna with a video on what teachers teach.

Here’s some news about the upcoming DC trip for juniors and seniors, TOMORROW is the last day to sign up for the trip.

Class officer voting will take place this week, and as of right now, there are no freshman applicants. If you are a freshman who wants to make a difference in and around THS, grab an application outside of room 319 and turn it in today!

Girls varsity tennis defeated Taylor last night by a score of 4-1. Wins were posted by Abbie Curry, Julie Page, Layla Fritzsche, Alyssa Hornsby, Catherine Moul, and Emma Lake. That’s a two match winning streak, lets keep it going ladies!!

JV girls soccer overcame Mt. Healthy 2-0, goals by Mia Abbott and Lindsay Huff

Boys soccer faced Badin, Jv falling 2-0 Varsity 9-0.

As for tonight,
Girls golf will face little miami at Oxford Country Club 4pm

Varsity tennis will be on the road to Lebanon and Jv off to monroe

Great work from our tennis team last night who overcame Edgewood 5-0.

Boys Golf faced Harrison in an essential SWOC match last night. They were able to grab the win 155-161. Impressive play from medalist Aidan Bruder shooting a 36. Good win boys.

Boys Golf will be hitting the green again tonight against Edgewood at hueston woods, 4:30pm.

JV girls soccer will take on Mt. Healthy at home @ 5pm.

And Finally, Boys Soccer will face Badin at Spooky Nook. JV begins at 5 and Varsity at 7. The theme for that game is black out, so show up and support our soccer boys.

Up next we have Dom and Parker with a freshman 1v1 basketball game.

That’s right–starting off with tomorrow, the Talawanda Tribune will meet during tutorial tomorrow in Dr. Weatherwax’s room, room 315. Make an e-hallpass and Weatherwax will approve it. Also during tutorial, Key Club will meet in room 218.

It was a very busy weekend for sports here at THS. The Cross Country meet on Friday ended up getting canceled. And if we remember, the football team faced Fenwick, the game resulting in a hard loss for the Brave.

Saturday was a packed day so stay with me here. Girls soccer swept Edgewood, JV winning 1-0 goal by Finley Thacker. Varsity finished 3-1 Goals scored by Jaklyn Wynn and Kelsi Carver

JV football played Fenwick losing 21-8

Boys soccer faced Batavia, JV tied 2-2 goals by Connor Pulaski and Javi Motta, Varsity lost 7-1 lone goal by Stephen Mullally

Finally, Volleyball played a tri match against Monroe and Princeton coming out on top both games.

It’s a quiet night here at THS but Tennis will be on the road heading edgewood, good luck ladies!

We’ve got a couple of announcements regarding club meetings here at THS. Here’s what’s coming up next week:

Setting Stone would like to thank those who came out to yesterday’s meeting.
TESSA:
But, due to the number of club meetings taking place on Thursdays, Setting Stone will move meetings to Tuesdays. If you are interested in being a part of Setting Stone, the group will meet next Tuesday, August 29th in room 320 right after school.
KATE:
Project Green Club will meet in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 223, on Tuesdays after school.
TESSA:
The Youth Initiative Team, or YIT!, focuses on helping people see the best in themselves. The group will meet today in the Media Center during Tutorial.

Diversity Club is hosting its first meeting of the school year next Thursday, August 31st, right after school in Mrs. Schultze’s room, room 400. Snacks will be provided.

Talawanda Best Buddies will host an informational meeting on Thursday, August 31st during tutorial.

It’s Friday, so you know what that means. Tonight is the first home football game of the season and meet the team night. Tailgating starts at 6 and the game will start at 8. The theme is USA out. But before you attend it is important you know some things first here is Kate with some FNL Etiquette.

Setting Stone, which creates Talawanda’s only literary-art magazine and hosts the popular concert-like event, the Coffee House, will have its first meeting today, right after school, in Mr. Aerni’s room, room 320. Stop by for a brief informational meeting to see if Setting Stone is for you. The meeting will be done in time for students to make the Drama Club meeting.

Speaking of the Drama Club meeting, THS’s Drama club will host its first meeting of the school year today, after school from 3 to 4, in the PAC.
KATE:
Project Green Club, a group focused on the environment and environmental issues, will meet in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 223, on Tuesdays after school.

Speaking of the heat, we just received news that Friday night’s football game is being moved back to 8 p.m. due to the heat.

But, enough about the heat. Let’s talk about yesterday’s sports.

Girls soccer fell 0-4 to Taylor in a hard-fought battle.

Tonight, Boys Soccer will be on the road for their first match of the season against Wyoming beginning at 7 pm

There’s a lot going on around Talawanda here at the start of the school year, including clubs starting to meet.
ANCHOR 2:
That’s right, club meetings are getting started. Including Setting Stone.
ANCHOR 1:
If you are interested in art, writing, graphic design, or music, Setting Stone might be for you. Setting Stone creates Talawanda’s only literary-art magazine using Talawanda High School student artwork and writing.
ANCHOR 2:
Additionally, Setting Stone puts on the Setting Stone Coffee House three times a year. Anyone interested in being a part of this unique club should try to attend an informational meeting this Thursday, August 24th, right after school in Mr. Aerni’s room, room 320.
ANCHOR 1:
Are you interested in the environment and environmental issues? Then Project Green Club might be for you.
ANCHOR 2:
Project Green Club will meet on Tuesdays, after school, in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 223. Feel free to email her with questions.
ANCHOR 1:
Another club meeting coming up at the end of the month is Diversity Club.
ANCHOR 2:
Diversity Club will meet in room 400 after school on Thursday, August 31st. Everyone is welcome, and there will be snacks. Email Mrs. Schulze with any questions.

Are you someone who enjoys helping others see the best in themselves?
ANCHOR 2:
Do you like encouraging healthy activities in order to help others have happier, more fulfilling lifestyles?
ANCHOR 1:
Then, Youth Initiative Team (also known as YIT) might be for you.

YIT will meet this Friday, August 25th, during tutorial in the Media Center.
ANCHOR 1:
Finally, Drama Club will meet this Thursday from 3 to 4 in the PAC.
ANCHOR 2:
In other news, Class Officer applications are available outside Ms. Mann’s room, room 319.
ANCHOR 1:
Class Officers represent their respective classes and organize events like Homecoming and Prom.
ANCHOR 2:
And, while Homecoming is weeks away, it’s never too early to start planning. Pick up your officer application outside of room 319 today.
ANCHOR 1:
Lastly, the Media Center wants you to know that the first two weeks of school are “fine free days.”
ANCHOR 2:
This means that, if you have an overdue book from last year, you can turn it into the Media Center today without receiving a late fine! So, get those books turned in today!

Now, it may only be the beginning of the school year, but Talawanda sports is in full gear. Here with some sports highlights and updates is our very own, Addi Thacker.

There’s been a lot happening in the world of THS sports. So, let’s get into it.

Golf hit the green last night against Badin last night, beating them 155 to 194. Major contributions from co-medalists Connor Schulte and Aiden Bruder, both shooting a 37.

Tennis also faced Badin on the court last night, falling short of a victory, 0 to 5.

In soccer news, Girls Soccer is on the road tonight, taking on Taylor at 7:00. JV starts at 5:30.

Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Monday, May 22nd, 2023.

Any student that will be attending Butler Tech next year MUST turn in their Chromebook to the media center before they leave for the summer. Also, if you are needing transportation, please check your email. You must complete the Google Form AND the transportation form from Mr. Phelps. Please see him in 519 if you have any questions.

Attention, students! The Talawanda Yearbook is still available, but supplies are running low, Head over to yearbookforever.com before May 30th to secure your copy before it’s too late.

Project Green is seeking volunteers for Marshall Elementary Field Day on Wednesday, May 24th. If you don’t a second-period exam or have some free time in the afternoon, we encourage you to lend a helping hand. Make a positive impact on the younger students’ day by signing up with either Mrs. Ruther or Mrs. Schwegman.

Now Ellie Killy brings us up to date with sports.

Last Friday night, the track team finished up the District meet. Many athletes qualified for the Regional Meet. Lucia Rodbro and Garrison Franks qualified in the 3200 both with second place finishes, Adriana Luking, Bryson Fears, and Max Bixler in the 1600, Logan Howard in the 100m dash. As for field events, Henry Hoblitzell, Olivia Andrews, and Maggie Staton with move on in pole vault, Haley O’Brien and Callie McCullough in high jump.

Regionals will take place at Wayne High School this Wednesday and Friday. Athletes that qualify there will move on to the state meet.
