And I’m Tessa Reynolds.
Today is Tuesday, August Twenty-second, Twenty-Twenty Three. Thanks for joining us.
ANCHOR 1:
There’s a lot going on around Talawanda here at the start of the school year, including clubs starting to meet.
ANCHOR 2:
That’s right, club meetings are getting started. Including Setting Stone.
ANCHOR 1:
If you are interested in art, writing, graphic design, or music, Setting Stone might be for you. Setting Stone creates Talawanda’s only literary-art magazine using Talawanda High School student artwork and writing.
ANCHOR 2:
Additionally, Setting Stone puts on the Setting Stone Coffee House three times a year. Anyone interested in being a part of this unique club should try to attend an informational meeting this Thursday, August 24th, right after school in Mr. Aerni’s room, room 320.
ANCHOR 1:
Are you interested in the environment and environmental issues? Then Project Green Club might be for you.
ANCHOR 2:
Project Green Club will meet on Tuesdays, after school, in Mrs. Ruther’s room, room 223. Feel free to email her with questions.
ANCHOR 1:
Another club meeting coming up at the end of the month is Diversity Club.
ANCHOR 2:
Diversity Club will meet in room 400 after school on Thursday, August 31st. Everyone is welcome, and there will be snacks. Email Mrs. Schulze with any questions.
ANCHOR 1:
Are you someone who enjoys helping others see the best in themselves?
ANCHOR 2:
Do you like encouraging healthy activities in order to help others have happier, more fulfilling lifestyles?
ANCHOR 1:
Then, Youth Initiative Team (also known as YIT) might be for you.
ANCHOR 2:
YIT will meet this Friday, August 25th, during tutorial in the Media Center.
ANCHOR 1:
Finally, Drama Club will meet this Thursday from 3 to 4 in the PAC.
ANCHOR 2:
In other news, Class Officer applications are available outside Ms. Mann’s room, room 319.
ANCHOR 1:
Class Officers represent their respective classes and organize events like Homecoming and Prom.
ANCHOR 2:
And, while Homecoming is weeks away, it’s never too early to start planning. Pick up your officer application outside of room 319 today.
ANCHOR 1:
Lastly, the Media Center wants you to know that the first two weeks of school are “fine free days.”
ANCHOR 2:
This means that, if you have an overdue book from last year, you can turn it into the Media Center today without receiving a late fine! So, get those books turned in today!
ANCHOR 1:
Now, it may only be the beginning of the school year, but Talawanda sports is in full gear. Here with some sports highlights and updates is our very own, Addi Thacker.

ADDI:
Thanks so much, K-Rey.
There’s been a lot happening in the world of THS sports. So, let’s get into it.

Golf hit the green last night against Badin last night, beating them 155 to 194. Major contributions from co-medalists Connor Schulte and Aiden Bruder, both shooting a 37.

Tennis also faced Badin on the court last night, falling short of a victory, 0 to 5.

In soccer news, Girls Soccer is on the road tonight, taking on Taylor at 7:00. JV starts at 5:30.

That’s it for sports. And, from all of us here at THS Daily News, thanks for tuning in. Join us tomorrow for more school news and sports updates.
