April 9th, 2021

Good Morning Talawanda. Today is Friday, April 9th, 2021.

Would you like to help a new student adapt to THS?  We are bringing back the ambassador program to match current students with new students.  Applications are available in the counseling office or online on the counseling website.

Setting Stone is pleased to announce the theme for the upcoming issue: Movement! The magazine will be unified by creative pieces that represent literal and metaphorical forms of movement. BUT! The staff needs your submissions to make this possible. Please submit any of your creative writing, photography, or visual art pieces to settingstone@talawanda.org, or by bringing them to room 320. We hope you’ll be a part of our award winning publication!

Congratulations to FCCLA Members who found out last night they were slated for State and Regional Offices.  Lauren Slattery and Taylor Gregory were slated as regional officers, and Lillian Shelley was double slated for state officer as State Secretary and Vice President of Member Engagement.  We find out the results on April 22nd!

If you are over 16, Baker concrete is offering paid summer training in Monroe.  This could lead to a full time position if graduated and 18 and over.  See your counselor for more information.

Talawanda will be participating in Ohio Military Family Spirit Week next week, April 12th – 16th.  Monday will be support your favorite military branch day, Tuesday is Red, White, and Blue day, Wednesday is Camoflague day, Thursday is Statewide ‘Purple Up’ day, and Friday is RED day – Remember Everyone Deployed.  Talawanda is a Purple Star School and is proud to participate in this Spirit Week.

FCCLA will be hosting the spring Blood Drive to be held on Friday April 16th, 7:30-11:30.  You must be 16 years old to donate. Pick up forms from the office, room 611, outside room 611 and at lunch.

The Talawanda Key Club is organizing a fundraiser  from April 12th-16th in cooperation with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Along with the fundraiser, Key Club would like to acknowledge any family members or friends of THS staff and students who have been impacted by cancer in any way. They encourage anyone who has been impacted to share a memory of a person close to them who has battled cancer.

Happy birthday today to Ben Crowder, Jada Tegge, Blake Puckett, and Austin Settles!

Now for sports with Luke West Poley

The baseball team lost 9-8 last night in a tough game against St Xavier, they fall to 5-3 on the year but will look to bounce back today in a conference matchup at Harrison.

Home games for this weekend: the tennis team will continue non-conference action with a 4 pm start against Elder today, the lacrosse team will host Wilmington tonight at 6:30, that game will be streamed live on Channel 85, and the baseball team will round out host duties for the Brave this weekend as they will play Cincinnati Christian tomorrow at 1.

That’s our broadcast today, I’m Luke West Poley thanks so much for watching, and lessgooo, it’s the weekend, we’ll see you on Monday.
