Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Thusday October 4th, 2018

Any 9th-12th grade girl interested in playing softball this spring, there will be a 15 min meeting in the cafeteria immediately after school on Tuesday, October 9th.  If you cannot make it, please see Coach Davie in Guidance before Tuesday’s meeting.

Reminder that there will be Braves for the Cure shirts for $12, and bracelets for $1.  They will be for sale during lunches and in Mrs. Gregory’s room all week.  The pink out football game is on October 12th, so make sure to purchase your shirt to support the braves, and help raise money for the side out foundation, and Luna cares.

Attention all Talawanda Hockey Players.  There will be a brief meeting after school Friday in Mr. Tincher’s room 124.  The meeting will only take a few minutes.  If you are unable to make the meeting please see Coach Tincher ASAP.

Freshmen:  Don’t forget to sell candles to your family and friends!  If you sell 12 items, you get a free $20 candle!  The $10 gift card winner is already claimed, but the next 3 students to turn in seller packets will receive $5 worth of candy! Stay tuned for more prizes and keep selling! See Mrs. Sammons for questions!

Best Buddies members:  Our October chapter meeting is this coming Tuesday, October 9 right after school in Mrs. Sammons’ room.  We will have snacks, play a game, and discuss upcoming events and tshirts. See you Tuesday!

Talawanda Social Workers and Success Liaison are looking for volunteers to help organize the clothing closet at Marshall Elementary.  If you would like more information or are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please see Mrs. Workman or Mr. Davie in the guidance office.

Don’t just stuff your recently worn homecoming attire in your closet, never to be seen again!  Donate it!  Success Liaison Mrs. Workman and School Counselor Mrs. Peter are accepting donations of homecoming dresses, dress pants, dress shirts, ties, etc!

And now for “this is Patty G”

Birthdays for today: Austin Schomaker turns 17, John Nelson turns 15, and Jacob Mason turns 17.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

Three-peat complete! The boys soccer team has won back-to-back-to-back SWOC championships for the first time in team history after an 8-1 rout of Mt. Healthy on the road. Sam Robinson and Ethan Kent each had 2 goals in the game. Ben Marks allowed just 1 goal in net and had 2 saves. The Braves have allowed just 5 goals against in the past 4 games. So congratulations to the boys soccer team!

Also, congratulations to Austin Goerss for making it into a five-way playoff at sectionals, hoping to grab one of two remaining spots for the district tournament.  Though he didn’t nail down a spot this year, there are high hopes for his chances next season!  Here he is on the first playoff hole, with his teammates behind him all the way.

Home games for today: Boys JV and Varsity Soccer take on Edgewood. JV at 5 and Varsity at 7. Tonight is fan appreciation night at the field, and all students get in free with their student ID. The student’s section theme for tonight is a black out as well, so hope to see a big crowd there. The game will be live streamed as well starting at 7 on the Brave TV YouTube Channel.

And that’s our broadcast on this Thursday. I’m Patrick Geshan. Thank you so much for watching — and have a great day.
