Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Thursday September 27th, 2018

Students taking the PSAT need to complete the pre-registration process this coming Monday, October 1st after school in the cafeteria.  Please bring a number 2 pencil.  This should take about 30 minutes.  Please see Mr. Phelps in room 517 if you have any questions!

Art club is welcoming all students who like to paint, draw, write, or create in general, regardless of skill level, to room 603 right after school on thursdays.  Hope to see you there!  All questions can be directed to Mr. Hunsche or senior Haden Bittinger.

Lost and found is overflowing with water bottles, lunch boxes and jackets.  If you are missing any of these items come to the main office.  They will be taken to Oxford Resource Center on Monday if not claimed.

Attention second-year members of NHS: we will meet in Ms. Alfonsi’s room after school on Tuesday, October 2 to finalize plans for our induction ceremony.

Attention Sophomores – PRIDE Day is coming up next week on Thursday for students A through J and Friday for students K through Z.  This all-day, annual event is an important part of becoming a respectful and responsible Talawanda student.  This can be a life-changing event, so be prepared with an open mind.  If you have any questions you can see Mrs. Peter in the Guidance office or Mr. Z in room 301.

For seniors who want to improve your ACT score, Friday is the deadline to register for the October ACT.

Attention writers, artists, and photographers:  Setting Stone is looking for your original works!  Please send them to settingstone@talawanda.org, and check out our website at settingstone.org!

And now for an AFS Interview.

Birthdays for today:  Abigail Johnson turns 17, Mason Hansford turns 17, and Danielle Dysert turns 15.  Also happy birthday to Mrs. Peter.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

The girls golf team played in their SWOC tournament yesterday at Miami Whitewater. Their team score of 455 earned a second place conference finish behind Harrison.   Jada Tegge placed 6th in the tournament with an 18-hole score of 105.  Sophia Moore shot a 114, Hannah Heitger shot a 115, Alysse Aylor a 121,    Grace Clausen a 127, and Gabby Clausen a 129.  It is improvement  from the Brave’s 5th place conference finish last year — and second is pretty good for just their second year as a team.

The JV boys golf team is still rolling along in high gear, defeating Badin 203-213 on Wednesday at Hueston Woods.  This brings their record to 14 & 1 (finishing undefeated in the conference).  Their final match of the season will be on Thursday, at Eaton.  On a fun note, the three varsity seniors took on three varsity underclassmen in a match play scramble on Wednesday afternoon.  Golf program alumni Charlie Winkler and Vincent Whitehead caddied for the seniors, but even so, the underclassmen won by a hole. The evening ending with a celebration of  seniors,  so congrats to Trey Hubbard, myself, and Nick Vandenberg!

And in other results last night, the Varsity Field Hockey team fell to Oakwood by a score of 7-1.

Good luck to the Girls Tennis team who plays in THEIR SWOC tournament today on the Miami Tennis Courts. Home games for today:  Boys JV and Varsity Soccer take on Harrison, JV at 5 and Varsity 7.

And that’s our broadcast on this Thursday. I’m Patrick Geshan. Thank you so much for watching — and we’ll see you tomorrow.
