Talawanda Drama’s Fall Production to Almost Maine will have auditions today after school from 3-7pm in the PAC.  Any and all students are welcome to come audition.  If you have any questions or need to schedule a different audition time please see Ms. Hudson in room 116 or Mr. Steffen.

The September FFA meeting will be this Wednesday in the PAC from 1:45-2:15.  Refreshments will be there afterwards in the shop. Go aggies!

Are you interested in joining the debate team?  Come to the after school meeting on Thursday, September 12, from 2:30-4:30.

Anyone interested in learning more about the club, “Girls Who Code,” an organization that promotes computer programming and coding skills, please see Miss Klovekorn in room 220 or Mrs. Caraballo in room 218.  No experience necessary!

Setting Stone will meet today after school in Mr. Aerni’s room.  We will discuss the Spring’s New York trip, Setting Stone submissions, November’s Coffee House, and a few other details.  See you this afternoon!

Today is the final day to take part in the THS Choir fall fundraiser.  Grab a choir student and tell them that you want all the frozen treats that you can handle.  Get some great food and help our program continue to grow.  Choir Students:  Please get your corrected order materials to Mr. Pearson before the end of the day.

The THS Homecoming dance almost here.  Homecoming tickets will be on sale during all lunch periods starting Friday, September 14 through Friday, September 21.  Tickets are $15 per person.  The homecoming dance is Saturday, September 22 from 8pm to 11pm in the Talawanda High School Gymnasium.  Note, if a student plans to bring an outside guest, tickets and permission slips must be purchased in the main office.

Talawanda’s new Larping club is a Medieval combat and role playing group.  This group is all about small team deathmatch battles and capture the flag battles.  If you would like to join please email daniel.ross@talawanda.org.  If you would like to see what this club is about they hold meetings on Wednesdays until 3:30.  To be able to play and fight they require a signed liability waiver.  They gather in Mrs. Bakers room, 410.

Any 9-12th grader who has completed an act of volunteerism and would like to be considered for a thousand dollar cash prize is encouraged to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  The application can be found at spirit.prudential.com and is due by November 6th.  Talawanda will have one local winner who will be considered for the state award, and a trip for themselves and a parent or guardian to Washington, DC this spring for a 4-day recognition ceremony.

Attention current NHS seniors: We will meet in Ms. Alfonsi’s room right after school Thursday, September 13th.  Be there!

Come to the first Model UN meeting right after school on Thursday September 20th in room 118, Ms. Lefevers room.  This will be an informational meeting so all are encouraged to come.  If you have any questions or can’t come please contact club president Jenny Lee.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

The girls volleyball team fell to Fairfield yesterday in 3 sets at home.   Their record falls to 2 and 6 overall. The Braves play for the second straight night at home tonight against Edgewood.

And the girls tennis team fell last night to Eaton by a score of 5-0 at home. Their record falls to 4 and 6 overall. The tennis team plays another conference match tonight when they travel to Northwest.

Home games for today:  Girls JV Tennis takes on Nothwest at 4. Girls Varsity Soccer plays Edgewood at 6, and Volleyball hosts Edgewood. Freshman at 4:30, JV at 5:45, and Varsity at 7.
