Best Buddies or anyone who would like to still join:  Please remember to submit your online application ASAP.  If you need directions for signing up, please see Mrs. Sammons in Room 316.  Our match party is this coming Tuesday, September 11.  We will have pizza and snacks! Also, reminder to all members to check your email for a survey about our upcoming field trip.  Mrs. Sammons needs to know if you want to go by Friday!

Anyone who is interested in being a poll worker during the up coming elections, contact Mr. Bomholt in room 123.  Anyone who will be 18 on or before the election who is not registered to vote come by room 123 to get registered.

All members of YIT should plan to attend our meeting today at @ 1:45 pm in the staff lounge.  New members are always welcome!

Starting Thursday, September 6th, there will be an open baseball field, every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:45. You should try to attend if you are not playing a fall sport. All grades are welcome.

The THS Choir program has started its annual Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser.  See any choir student or Mr. Pearson for the opportunity to support our vocal music groups and get some great food.  There will be cookies, pretzels, pizzas, churros, cheesecakes, and soups!  The sale runs from now until Tuesday, September 11.  Get your orders in today!

World Language Club (Voila) will have it’s informational meeting today, right after school in Room 118.  Come and bring a friend!  We have snacks!

Seniors interested in attending the College Essay Workshop on Monday, September 10th, remember that Miami and UC admission reps will work 1 on 1 with you on your draft or final essays.  They are scheduled to be here from 2:30 – 4.  This will help you get individual direct feedback from admission professionals.  You do not need to stay the entire time.

Drop off all books for the book drive in the in the Main Office in the designated boxes!  The Book Drive will run until September 7th!  All of the books will go to our local Children’s Hospitals.

The drama club will be having an informational meeting after school on September 6 in the THS Performing Arts Center.  If you cannot make it to the meeting and still want to audition, come after school on September 11.  If you have any other questions, please see Ms. Hudson or Mr. Steffen in room 317.

Any sophomore or junior wanting to take the PSAT on October 10 needs to sign up in Guidance by September 7th.  The cost is 20 dollars.  Please have your payment when you go to sign up.

Birthdays for today:  Jasmine Wells turns 17, Jarrett White turns 18, John Klacik turns 17, Alison Pennington turns 16, Dale Yauger turns 15, and Dawson Yauger turns 15.  Also, happy birthday to Mr. Pasquale.

And now for world news and Patty G with sports.

The Braves boys golf team racked up a double win against Harrison on Tuesday, with a variety score of 169-176, and a JV score of 199-241.  Varsity co-medalist were Charlie Faler and Harrison golfer Sam Bischel, who shot rounds of 40.  Grant Monson was medalist in the JV match, with 45.  The varsity is now 7 & 0 overall, and 5 & 0 in the conference.  The JV squad is 7 & 1 overall, and 5 & 0 in the conference.  Both teams are in action again on Wednesday and Thursday.

The boys soccer team improved to 4-0-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the SWOC yesterday with a 2-nill shutout over Harrison. Sam Robinson and Jake Kelly had the goals for the Braves and Tom Winkler recorded his 3rd shutout of the season. The Braves have only allowed 1 goal against through 4 games.

Girls soccer team fell to Harrison yesterday at home by a score of 3 to 1. Their SWOC record falls to 0-2-0, they are 1-2-1 overall. Their next match is Thursday at Mt. Healthy — who doesn’t have a golf team.

The Girls Tennis team picked up their 3rd SWOC win of the season last night in a 5-0 rout of Mt. Healthy. The Braves are now just 1 match below .500 overall with an overall record of 4 and 5.

Any girls interested in playing basketball this winter, there will be a meeting today at 1:45 pm in the gym.  If you are playing a fall sport, still stop by the meeting and sign in.  The meeting will only take about 15 minutes. And boys basketball players, your pre-season meeting is Thursday after school in the gym.

Home games for today:   Boys Varsity Golf takes on Fenwick at 4 at Hueston Woods , and Girls JV and Varsity Field Hockey play Oakwood. JV at 5, Varsity at 6:30. The Stanley Cup will also pay a visit to Goggin Ice Center today; the public viewing in the Goggin lobby begins at noon, and will go until 3. I’ll have more on the Stanley Cup coming to town a little later in the week.
