Good morning, Talawanda! Today is Wednesday, August 22, 2018

Do you enjoy helping in the community?  Or are you looking for a way to become more involved?  Or even just looking for service hours?  If so, join the Talawanda Key Club.  We do many service projects throughout the year and will be holding our first meeting on Monday, August 27th right after school in Mr. Ruther’s room, 423.  Come and learn about the club and meet the officers.

There will be an FFA meeting today from 1:45 – 2:30 in the PAC.  All FFA members are welcome to attend.  There will be pizza afterwards.  Go aggies!

Do you have old books from when you were younger that you don’t read anymore?  Instead of just throwing them out, donate them!  This is a district wide book drive sponsored by the Butler Tech/Talawanda FCCLA Chapter.  Anyone from any of these schools can donate.  You can drop the books off to any of the Talawanda School’s Main Offices, in the designated boxes!  The Book Drive will start on August 27th and run until September 7th!  All of the books will go to our local Children’s Hospitals.  If you have any questions feel free to ask Braelynn Wagers, Hannah Cress or Mrs. Gregory in room 611.

The drama club will be having an informational meeting after school on September 6 in the THS Performing Arts Center.  Anyone who is interested in seeing what goes in to the fall play both onstage and backstage should come and see what drama is all about.  If you cannot make it to the meeting and still want to audition, they will be after school on September 11.  If you have any other questions, please see Ms. Hudson or Mr. Steffen in room 317.

Attention National Honor Society Seniors:  Please read your email from Ms. Alfonsi regarding Marshall Mentors.

Anyone who would like to join Best Buddies this school year should plan to come to an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 28 right after school in Room 316.  The meeting is a great way to learn more about the club and register for this year.  Members from last year should plan to attend too!

Any student interested in running for class officers, please pick up an application outside Ms Mann’s room.

Birthdays for today: Audrey Lorigan turns 16.

And now to world news and then Patty G with sports.

The Talawanda boys varsity golf team defeated Edgewood in SWOC conference play at Hueston Woods on Tuesday, by a score of 178 to 208.  Co-medalists were Charlie Faler and I with a score of 43, followed by sophomore Austin Goerss with a 45. The Braves are now 1 & 0 in conference play.  Their next match will be Thursday, August 23, against Little Miami at Hueston Woods.

The boys soccer team won the second game of their season yesterday at home against Colerain by a 3-0 score. There were goals at the end of the rainbow yesterday — Sammy Robinson tallied twice for Talawanda and Ethan Kraushar added one as well. The Braves record improves to 2 and 0.

The girls soccer team visited Colerain yesterday and drew a nill-nill tie in their first contest of the season, and the JV girls’ tennis defeated Northwest by a score of 6-0.  Come out tonight at 4 to see the team face Badin.

Want to tell all wrestlers the wrestling team will be having open practices every Sunday at 5 starting this Sunday.  Make sure to come.

Home games for today: Girls Golf takes on Taylor and Little Miami at 4:15 at the Oxford Country Club, and Boys JV Golf has Wyoming at Hueston Woods with the first tee time at 4.

And that’s our broadcast on this Wednesday. I’m Patrick Geshan. Thanks so much for watching and enjoy the early day.
